Electrical impulses, like lightening, are highly energetic, but short in duration. Just thought it interesting how a makeshift Faraday Cage protects the sensitive electronics of this quadcopter from these multiple static discharges!
Notice that when it is far enough from the ground, there is plasma between it and the tesla coils but not between it and the ground. In this circuit electricity flows from the tesla coils to the ground, while the drone flies in between. The cage has a large surface area for the electricity to move back into the air and into ground, so the electricity is spread out so much it no longer forms bright plasma even though it does ultimately still go to ground.
