Foot pain

A few months ago I think I was rushing around the house and kind of leaping and landed on the inside of my left foot, the instep area. It kind of hurt at first and didn't come up again. I think I've reinjured it slowly and now it's to the point where normal walking hurts.

It's right in the center of my foot, and when my foot rocks forward while walking, the pain goes up a little into the ball of my foot below the big toe. Nothing seems to be sticking out or structurally different compared to my other foot. About every step I take with that foot hurts, so I'm starting to feel kind of handicapped. The pain is moderate though, but of course noticeable.

I tried first using sports tape, which made it feel like an inflexible cast. I looked at the Kinesio tape manual and bought some of the tape. I did a general pattern I saw on youtube, one strip along the length of the foot and two perpendicular to that. I wore it for three days and it didn't help.

I put some DMSO on it the other day, which is kind of tedious with walking around. It seemed to help a little, maybe constant application would work. I've thought of going to the doctor, but I'd rather try something more allopathic first. My diet is good, 10-20 carbs a day, mostly grass fed beef, pork and fat.

Any suggestions on treatment would be appreciated. I wasn't sure of a correct diagnosis for the conditions I looked at. It seems that the point in the foot was subjected to too much stress and caused injury. Thanks for reading.

I'd rub some transdermal magnesium on it and massage it gently. Some foot baths with epson (mangesium) salts might help too. Epson salts can be found at most grocery or drug stores, and a carton is pretty cheap. I'd also suggest arnica oil, that stuff is great for healing torn fibers of muscles. A comfrey salve from comfrey root is good too.

Get it X-rayed. Then, if nothing shows up, I would persist with taping and DMSO.

It sounds like an injury that would benefit from taking homeopathic arnica. Arnica is incredibly effective for injuries involving bruising, swelling and so on. Arnica 6c is available here in the UK in the high street chemist. If it's not available in stores, you should be able to get by mail order, if you're interested.

Example: about a year ago I slammed my knee into the oven door handle (not deliberately!!), right on the kneecap. The bruise started to rise almost immediately. I took arnica 6c every 15 minutes for the rest of the evening, and I could see the bruise going down. I went to bed about 9pm, woke up in the night and took another arnica, and in the morning – no bruise, no swelling, no pain.

For an older injury such as this one, I would suggest taking one arnica tablet every hour until symptoms improve, then reduce it to one tablet three times daily until all is better, then stop. Don't have anything in your mouth apart from water for 20 minutes before and after taking a tablet.

Arnica is a safe homeopathic remedy which doesn't cause the symptoms one is trying to treat, as do some of the others.

Also available is arnica gel, or massage oil, which can be applied externally, which could also be helpful.

Thanks for the replies. I'll see if I can schedule an appointment on Monday. I have some magnesium oil and salts and a little jar of comphrey I haven't used yet. I've never heard of arnica, Endymion. Thanks, it looks like a useful plant and amazon has it.
