Forest fire allegedly started by a meteorite in İzmir

A forest fire broke out by an unknown reason in the forestland in the Neighborhood of Arpaseki, Kınık, İzmir, yesterday evening at 21.30. It was claimed that the fire, which was put out by a Fire Brigade intervention, was started by a meteorite that dropped out of the sky.

THE METEORITE CLAIM

Villagers asserted that a meteorite fell to the region and started the fire.

The Headman of Arpaseki Neighborhood, Ergün Şahan, said the object that fell was bright and that it was even seen from the close-by Neighborhood of Aziziye.

İsmail Süren, a local dwelling near the point of fire said, "The object that fell was something round. There was no sound, it just sparkled and fell to the stream."

THE CAUSE BEING INVESTIGATED

Fire Teams said the cause of the fire is being investigated. Gendarmerie also launched an investigation.
