Fractured Calcaneous (heel)

Oh no! Now I'm in a bugger of a situation. Went to see the ortho guy today and he said I needed a half leg cast for 6 weeks before I can get the cam boot. I argued my point to him and the caster and they both agreed I must wear it.
Now I can't put a comfrey poultice on which I've been doing every day Plus DMSO.
I feel like I am going to be well behind the 8 ball I I can't continue my own process of healing.
Any suggestions????
Please help!

Get a second opinion.

So I had already booked into my physio on Thursday. Will def ask her.. The plan was to get acupuncture and cupping from her during the recovery phase (in my head i imagined to be cast free) Is that what you would do as well or suggest another ortho?
I'm also going to call my naturopath.
Have ordered dried organic comfrey to use as tea or poultice. already have the ointment and taking symphytum.
Feeling a bit anxious

Update..
On a positive note, I fractured my calcaneous 6 weeks ago. The surgeon said 6 weeks plaster followed by 1 month moon boot and 1 month physio. 4 weeks following the fracture (it looked like shattered glass in the xray) and I was walking on it.. No cast.
I made tea out of comfrey root and drank morning and evening for 2 weeks, used symphytum homeopathic blend and had a comfrey cream made up by my naturopath that I put on with DMSO every day for 3 weeks. I took the cast on and off myself to be able to do this.
The surgeon said there was no way to speed the recovery. Even my physio was doubtful and was blown away when I walked into her office 4 weeks later. She said she had never seen bone heal so quickly.
I had xrays done again just to be sure and am in the clear, with complete weight bearing in that foot now and doing exercise on the leg to restrengthen.
So, thanks to all forum advice and to following my own beliefs I am 2 months ahead of the surgeons expected rehab.
Gotta love nature!
