Thanks for the sharing. Any datas on the Cristalline brand ? It is the cheapest.

While on this topic, it seems strange to me not to see any water threads on the Important threads for diet and health thread. Have i missed something ?

I am considering no longer buying bottled water. What is the best solution ? I'll go through the following threads to look for an answer :

Yes but it depends on the source itself. The soil chemical composition may vary from one place to another.

Sources: Sainte-Cécile / Sainte-Sophie (Data from Wikipedia; units in mg/L)

Calcium: 39 / 67
Magnesium: 25 / 26
Potassium: 1.5 / 20
Sodium: 19 / 84
Fluoride: < 0.3 / 0.9
Bicarbonate: 290 / 473
Sulfate: 5 / 61
Chloride: 4 / 32
Nitrate: < 2 / < 2
pH: 7.7 / 7.4

Well, it's always best to go with the less evil. Sometimes, bottled water can be much better that tap water - especially in big cities. There are some brands which offer demineralized water (either from distillation or reverse osmosis) so this could be a safe bet.

Or you could always but a home filtration kit. Reverse osmosis combined with activated charcoal should take out a lot/most of the crap. Note that not all reverse osmosis membranes have the same pore size. The smaller, the better.

According to some sources, Cristaline has 0,1 mg/l.
You can find the (alleged) amount of fluoride for most of brands sold in France here: _http://www.editionsluigicastelli.com/editionsluigicastelli/index.php?sp=page&c=1541

The ones which claim to have the less fluoride content are:
CELTIC Niederbronn (67) 0,05
DIDIER PLATE Martinique 0,05
MONT-ROUCOUS Lacaune (81) 0,05
ST-MARTIAL St-Martin le Redon (46) 0,03

The safe amount is <0,1 mg/l. As far as sparkling water is concerned, Perrier seems to be the safest one. Badoit is a big no-no, for it has an insane amount of fluoride (1,8mg/l).

Thanks for that info, JayMark! I'm going to start looking for more data on the subject. I read some years ago in SOTT about the dangers of fluoride in tap water, so started back then to buying bottled water. I think I will buy a filtration kit just like you describe.

Reading this I remembered a topic about this subject called Q's about WATER: http://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php/topic,13524.0.html
You might want to start with that one... ;)

Just want to mention that it is also advised to avoid plastic bottles as much as possible. They can release nasty chemicals. If you can, aim for glass bottles instead.

Thank you very much Palinurus and JayMark! I just saw your answers. And I think now that this issue is a possible focus of attack/weakness/illness that I had not noticed or given enough importance. Thank you again!
