PARIS (AP) - France's CAC-40 share index has suffered its worst percentage drop ever, shedding 9.04 percent.
The benchmark index has closed at 3,711.98 points, a loss of 368.77 points
The market operator says the previous worst drop in percentage terms for the CAC-40 was on Sept. 11, 2001, when it closed down 7.39 percent.
A French-Belgian bank, Dexia SA, was one of the worst hit stocks in Monday's tumble in Paris. Its shares were valued at ¤6.806 ($9.28) each at the close, a drop of 20.29 percent.
