Freeform Drawings and Attempted Analysis

HowToBe

The Living Force
Inspired by Seamas' Bridge Drawing and Creative Journaling threads and having watched and read some things about art therapy recently in my search for what college/career direction I wish to take, I felt like drawing, which hasn't happened in a while. I let myself draw freely, with no particular end goal in mind. I've decided to post the results here with some analysis/brainstorming so that others can see them and maybe provide some insight. At the very least, maybe they're interesting to look at. :) I'm having to push past the voice telling me this is a waste of time.

I made this one a few days ago, before I started reading about art therapy (I had learned a little about the therapy from Seamas' threads though):

I've tentatively called it "Celestial Mechanics and the Limitations of Physicality", because that seems to express my impression of it. There is a sun, crescent moons, circular objects which might be planets, and the two fractal-like collections of dots on either side which might represent asteroid belts. The large triangular pyramid-like object in the center seems like a crystal to me. The triangle is pointing down , between the two chained "planets", into an irregular crescent shape. This seems to symbolize the direction that energy is moving. The crescent is maybe a "broken/distorted moon", which would mean energy is flowing from the sun and the "heavens", through the crystal pyramid, to "feed the moon". The rainbow-shaped arc in front of the sun, with shapes on it, reminds me of Mayan calendars and makes me think of astrology and the structure of celestial cycles. It could represent some kind of knowledge or technology which is being used to direct the sun's energy into the crystal and then downward to the "moon". I think the two bent chevrons just indicate direction of flow. The "asteroid belts" could represent looming cosmic danger because of the relationship to comets.

On a more personal level, I think this picture might represent my feelings of mechanicalness and limitation. The "heavens" could represent my soul or hypothetical higher centers, the crystal could represent my "machine" or lower centers, and the "moon" at the bottom could be 4th density STS, using my lower centers as a funnel for feeding. The "Mayan" rainbow/calendar could represent the "technology of lies" used to misdirect the energy of the higher centers for feeding and keep them from being truly expressed. The two chained planets could represent the artificial physical/emotional/societal forces that keep the machine directed in a way that "feeds the moon".

This one is from a couple days ago. You can see a higher resolution version by clicking on it:

Obviously duality features strongly in this one. The central shape reminds me of a bean (which is why I drew a sprout on top of it), or of the two brain hemispheres. Different dualities in this are: Light/Dark, Triangle/Square, Male/Female (represented by triangle and square), Active/Passive (triangle and square), Internal/External (the two circles with lines), Inward/Outward (the arrows), Upward Growth/Downward Growth (the sprout at top and roots at bottom), Fire/Water, Earth/Wind (wind on the right, earth represented by the plant sprout), Realistic/Symbolic (the two clouds raining towards each other), Jagged/Smooth. The eye in the center seems to represent an awareness in the center of all these things. It is also interesting to me that the eye adds a circle which complements the triangle and square and forming a trinity of the three most basic shapes. The eye could maybe represent the Third Force of awareness in the midst of all these dualities. There is a tiny spark of light inside the eye.

I suppose it may be significant to note that the eye is passive in the midst of all of this. I think the eye represents my awareness, and perhaps at the moment I feel like I can only watch the various dualities surrounding me. I do suppose I've been feeling somewhat powerless lately in some ways. I also get an impression that the various "elements" surrounding the central oval may represent emotions which are somewhat dissociated from the eye in the center, being kept away by the black and white oval with its thick outer wall. The fact that the line between light and dark spreads out from the eye may represent discernment, or, alternatively, black and white thinking.

Anyway, that's all for now. Maybe my interpretations are off or incomplete. In any case, the exercise has been interesting. I'm interested in whether others see anything interesting in these. Thanks for looking/reading! :)
