I'm going to move to an old house and doing renovation. So far everything is going well, insulation and walls using plywood are half done. My coworker heard about my progress and was concerned about where the plywood come from. I couldn't answer that question precisely, cause I bought it in a home center. She said that in Japan many cases went public where build materials came from contaminated area. Before I demolish my wall. I need Geiger counter to prove. Has anyone experience with that?

Hi Kaigen,
Has anyone experience with that?
I don't, but after Fukushima several reports stated that the Japanese government tried to limit or even ban the sale of foreign made geiger counters. If there is any truth in it maybe its better to find ways to import one.

Do you have the possibility to buy natural organic insulation materials, there are wood-wool, baled straw ...

Thank you for your answers. It is not so expensive as I expected.

I have no possibility to by organic materials. If so the prices for organic here in Japan are most 3 times higher. :(

Typically for traders, something that should have the best price, the price is high that we can not afford :(
whether you live near a small village, maybe someone baled straw in your neighborhood?

Maybe it could be cheaper to hire some laboratory to do the measuring for you? They can also measure for other things like gas emission (radon?) from the plywood and similar. Anyway, they should have more knowledge on the matter than someone who is using Geiger for the first time.
