"The Women’s March organizers want a general strike against Trump. Could it work?"

A relative just told me about a strike planned for this coming Friday. Sounds like Soros?

However, national general strikes are rare in the United States and have not occurred here in more than half a century. What, then, might happen if a general strike is called?

It is interesting how this country going. US establishment got rid of influence of unions and companies may not want to entangle with politics. General public who voted for trump may not want to do it. Mere protests may not be effective. IMHO, general strikes effectiveness depends on disruption of the transportation. How are they going to stop the traffic in a country like US where vehicles run very fast. If they stop traffic, it is going to be big mess.

The marching orders call for calling sick into work, not spending a penny on anything for 24 hours, not using/buying any commercial/professional services.

So then, "coincides" with what other organizations are calling in social media "a day without immigrants"(latinos) and with same framework _http://www.telemundodallas.com/noticias/inmigracion/Proponen-movilizacion-masiva-en-el-Dia-Sin-Inmigrantes-413237803.html

Might be a lot of people losing jobs over it. Not good. Jobs are hard to find these days. It does seem like someone is organizing all this and fomenting revolution.

I may be getting it wrong but wouldn't a general strike be a bit of a risky endeavour? I mean, it would require country wide participation of a large part of the population. Apart from those "snowflake" types who like to make so much incomprehensible noise, would there be enough support for this initiative?

There are quite aggressive MSM campaigns against Trump that blow dissatisfaction with his performance out of proportion but at the end of the day it looks like most voters actually voted for him (or voted against Clinton). And those who didn't vote at all may not have a strong enough opinion to take part. If their views were strong enough they would have gone to the elections I guess.

Wouldn't a general strike that only gets a relatively small proportion of the public on board be shooting yourself in the foot? They are either stuck in their own "echo chamber" or the idea is to blow the actual participation in the strike out of proportion as well.

It does indeed. But IMO it's one thing to bribe a bunch of people to attend a protest and another thing to bribe a country into a general strike. The whole idea sounds insane to me but hey, this guy is not exactly a picture perfect example of mental stability and logical reasoning.

Sounds like a recipe to get this country to self implode one step at a time. This is another manipulation of the energy of mindless liberals who will unquestioningly do anything, even if it will eventually destroy the life they take for granted.

Funny enough, I tend to think that this will go the absolute opposite of what the planners have in mind. Wishful thinking again?! Otherwise, the same idea was thrown around in the past decades several times, though never implemented, in order to somehow circumvent the blinding consumer society where we are now - as it were. Think about this idea going worldwide, and the planet coming to a grinding economic halt, not just one day, but a week try and imagine, wow!!! :-)
