I've just been watching Karla Turner's presentation on Google Videos and noticed that the site is going to delete everything within the next 10 days. Huh??

This means that a whole lot of excellent documentaries and videos are going to be lost - possibly forever!

So what now? I mean shall we save at least a few of the best ones? Any suggestions?
What is the best way to download these files?

:(

BTW, UFO & Military Abductions - 1994 Lecture is just amazing...

Do a quick google search for google video and a bunch of headlines for articles reporting it will appear on the first page of results.

Evidently there is a group trying to archive as much as they can:

There is a program called "Youtube Downloader" that allows you to download video's from Google video and Youtube. I was able to download one video from Google so it should work for most. Here is the link for the program - http:(slashslash)youtubedownload(dot)altervista.org/. I have been using this for about a year now and I do like the simplicity of the program. Perhaps we could make a list of recommended video's needing to be saved?

I second that, do we start listing them on this thread or open up a knew one dedicated to it.

My thought would be to start a new thread so there is no confusion. Just my 0.02 cents.

I second that.

I've started a new thread: http://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=22989.0

Yeah google bought youtube. It does seem suspicious. Why not just switch all the videos over to youtube? Youtube is making people use their google accounts now anyways. And giving them only a small number of days before all their videos are deleted is crazy.

As I said in other thread I will record this videos with real player.
So please give me the coordinates and I record it, and save first on my
Pc. I have also another pc standing alone what could be a server, but
I will need probably help on it.

hmm I know about this for few days now and I didn't think about it as a data loss :O
geee I am dumb :/

According to this article:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/226192/google_changes_video_migration_plans.html

They have received enough complaints that they have essentially removed the deadline and are working on an automatic migration system to youtube. Doesn't hurt to be safe in case a few videos go "missing" during the merge, might just be PR spin.
