I stumbled upon this article: The People of Earth Need You to Hunt for Asteroids which advertise for two sites dedicated to human hunt for asteroid. One is from NASA ( http://www.topcoder.com/asteroids/asteroiddatahunter/ ) and is calling to programmers for help if I understand well.
The other ( http://www.asteroidzoo.org/#/ ) is asking you to visually check space pictures to see if something is moving.
I don't know know exactly what to think of it. They certainly have the computer capacity to analyse images and detect asteroid without a doubt and at a hight level they know what is going on. So perhaps it's a covert and problematic images have already been removed.
Or goods forces really try to push the cat out the bag. I don't know.
