There is something that blocks me, and I think of it again and again.

The feeling of gratitude that you can give to someone - does it contributes to the STS system, by reenforcing the ego of someone and by giving us some pleasure while doing that ?

And the other way round, does we have to hunt, analyze, and eliminate all signs of satisfaction and pride in ourself (in a humble sens) because it is a reaction/feeling of STS ego ?

Can a non-artifical gratitude exist in a STO world ?

Thx for help

The devils is in details, I think.
When you give something to someone and this someone says "thank you" - in itself means nothing. Because you coul have been giving the wrong thing. It might well happen that you gave the wrong thing. But if you have knowledge and you know that it was the right thing, and when you know that the other person also have knowledge in the particular area, then "thank you" is a part of the feed-back loop. It gives you a certain information that you can use in the future. If having "satisfaction" helps you, provides you with a motivation to do more, then there is nothing wrong with it. Pride, on the other hand, is something different. Pride implies that you are sure that you did something "good". One should never be sure.

Now, when the other person is grateful to you, this can be also good or bad. It is bad when the other person becomes "less free" because of this.
There is a whole "art of giving and taking" and . Like anything else in this world "giving" can be used for the benefit of givers/takers or can be malevolent.

Ok. It seems subtle.

Lie-tseu will say that we don't have to be conscious in the act of giving or receiving, because if there is some sort of wisdom atmosphere it's all natural, separated from the real I.

The greatest creative contribution in the service to others mode can be realized in a state of not anticipating outcomes or effects while expressing one's fundamental nature or gift.
