Far, far away, in uncharted territories…live people we could learn from:

Trappers’ life in springtime in the Russian taiga – hunting, fishing, breeding dogs, living a simple life in the middle of nowhere.
Building a canoe manually which is serviceable for 10-15 years is something! Some real examples of self reliant obyvatels!
Plenty of ice to get seasoned to the Ice Age idea.
The issues presented could offer inspiration in getting prepared.

Thank you Shared Joy:

Such simple lives they lead, yet so full. Family and friends, good food and drink, many skills by which the live with the cycles of nature.

I watched this a few months ago and enjoyed it. What stood out was the self reliance and relationship they had with nature and community. I think that's what made them such "happy people." I thought their dogs lives were interesting as well. They were tame and still a bit wild at the same time. The one that ran all day was amazing.

Hi Mac, Chrissy

I'm glad you like these films as they convey a profound message - learn to read the nature and participate accordingly. This goes for plants and animals too. I myself had a dog and he was so special (for everybody who grew to know him) that became a real companion.

I also admire the skilled people - not the smooth talkers who promise a lot and do nothing - but those who can see the utility of everything and are able to cope with most challenges , as they are so versatile.

And again, here's the importance of communities - at least for me this is the missing part, as so far I could neither find nor form one. So I contribute to what I can here.

All the best for you all!
Joy
