Not sure if this is the right place for this, one of the articles concerning this has been posted on Sott.net in the “Haunted planet” section. It is here: Haunted House Where Towels and Even Police Tape Burns

More has been written about this house in the Czech Republic where a mysterious phenomenon - such as wall sockets bursting into flames or light bulbs exploding - has been going on for more than a month now. A number of experts and agencies have investigated but the “experts” are baffled.. I thought I'd give a short summary of each article in chronological order:

First article: 1st November Flames appear in “haunted” house when it’s sunny outside _http://www.tyden.cz/rubriky/domaci/ve-strasidelnem-domku-hori-kdyz-sviti-slunce_145905.html

This is the first short report about this odd event. It states that for over a month in Jiří Mraček´s house an unknown phenomenon has been devastating wall sockets that burst into flames as well as exploding light bulbs. Some of the possible explanations put forth are the nonexistent American radar in Brdy, aliens or electric motors from the nearby waterworks. None of the experts have been able to verify any of that. Jiří Mraček’s theory is simpler. "The problem starts when it's sunny outside" and further explains that nothing happened on two over cast days on Wednesday and Thursday. Geophysicist Martin Lang stated “We are conducting measurements of so called aberrant currents, that is of electric potential in the ground,” he told ČTK (Czech Press Agency)

Second article is the one published on Sott: 2nd November Haunted House Where Towels and Even Police Tape Burns _http://www.tyden.cz/rubriky/domaci/ve-strasidelnem-dome-hori-rucniky-i-policejni-paska_145937.html

Third article: 2nd November: Haunted house: family to be provided with alternative housing _http://www.tyden.cz/rubriky/domaci/strasidelny-dum-rodina-dostane-nahradni-bydleni_146089.html

It starts off saying that experts still have no idea what is causing the phenomenon that started 27th September. If the causes cannot be determined within the next few days the family will be give shelter in public housing. A short interview with the mayor of the small town with 2500 inhabitants follows. The reporter asks about the housing issue to which the mayor replies that the family will be given priority access to public housing. Then he is asked about reactions of the local community, to which he says that some try to help, such as friend of the family geophysicist Martin Lang. He is then asked what will happen if the scientists are unable to reveal anything. His reply is that they have several other ideas. But if all fails the family will have to move out. Several eyewitness accounts of glass shattering and wall sockets in flames.

Sockets in flames were witnessed by employees of Zajíček Elektro company, Rokycany who were searching for the cause in the internal electrical wiring. They were in the house during the first two weeks.
J.Z. “In the bathroom I saw on two occasions wall sockets just burst into flames with the electricity cut off, my colleagues M.H. and B.R. saw a light switch on fire, which we kept as a curiosity for our firm. The inside of the switch worked, the outer plastic was charred.”

R. P. the head of ČEZ Distribution observed the same event: “”I entered the bathroom and all of a sudden there was smoke and flames coming out of the socket. At the same time the lady yelled that there’s a fire in the living room. It extinguished itself but it looked terrible.”

Discharges from the water pipe batteries injured a boy. These too were seen by technicians. M. H. and B.R. from Zajíček Elektro.
”It’s nonsense that these people should be lying, that they’ve imagined everything. Just the way they all took turns to stand guard, their clearly visible fear.”

Explosions of light bulbs began after specialists from ČEZ group started to investigate the cause. This was seen by a number of witnesses.

M.Z., technician from ČEZ distribution services:
”We were in the house with electricity disconnected, then all of a sudden light bulbs began to explode. But in such a way where they were literally flying off.”

The same was by F. Ž a ČEZ distribution services specialist from Olomouc:
”Unfortunately I’ve only seen glass exploding, not the combustion. We conducted various measurements and have excluded that our grid could be responsible, we have detected faint radiation within the spectrum our equipment operates. It is important for someone with the right equipment to come and conduct measurements. Combustion of nonflammable plastics cannot be simulated with a lighter, try it. It is also difficult to pretend that a child has suffered burns, I once suffered the same injury that is why I investigated myself.”

Fourth article: 4th November Haunted house owner: I am glad there are eyewitnesses _http://www.tyden.cz/rubriky/domaci/majitel-strasidelneho-domu-jsem-rad-za-ocite-svedky_146243.html

This one starts optimistically because since Saturday there were no fires. Mraček states that there have been allegations of fraud, but he points out the numerous eyewitnesses. The moving out option is mentioned but Mraček maintains that that would be the very last option. He is asked when was the last time fire broke out. His reply is that it's been three days without any incidents although there is no supply of electricity during the day and when the electricity is on the circuit breakers keep overloading. He further says that he knows nothing about the investigation conducted by the electricity provider ČEZ, the Czech Technical University in Prague or the Czech Radiocommunications Bureau. He is glad there are many eyewitnesses because there are some who claim everything was staged.

Fifth article: 5th Novembe Haunted house: experts disagree about the causes of fires _http://www.tyden.cz/rubriky/domaci/strasidelny-dum-experti-se-prou-o-puvod-horeni_146397.html#otazka_1000

The former director of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences Luděk Pekárek indirectly accuses the Mračkových family of fraud. This expert on physical phenomenon voiced his doubts about the source of the mysterious events shortly after being denied accessed to the house.

"To claim an explanation based on some accumulated energies or even supernatural forces is nonsense. There is not one incident that cannot be explained in a normal way." he told iDnes.cz. "For example sockets were charred from the outside. If discharge had been the cause of this the sockets would be burned from the inside." he added. He goes even further with his claims: "If I want to burn a socket, I'll bring some flammable substance and discreetly light a lighter. It is no problem to break a fish tank. People should be seen as the cause, not some external forces and electromagnetic fields." He indirectly accused the Mračkových family of aiding the unexplained events.

This is disputed by many eyewitnesses, such as the owner of an electrical wiring company Jiří Zajíček whose firm installed the wiring in the house.

His first visit to the house was on 28th September, one day after the fires started. From that day his employees observed the house pretty much every day. "I have seen a number of times flames in a socket in a house that was cut off from electricity. During my forty years of practical experience I have never seen anything similar." he told online magazine Tyden.cz. "It is curious that when the flames were put out in time the internal mechanism was not damaged." he adds further observations. He also denied anyone could be setting fire to the sockets. "Once fire started when the owner and I were outside in the garden and there was no one in the house. Without any help. If some sort of liquid had been used one could smell it. Flamable fluid would also burn inside the socket."
