Having trouble breathing

A Disturbance in the Force
Hello, i've been reading SOTT for a couple years now, and this is my first post!

Anyway, i wanted to know if anyone could help me. I've been having trouble breathing through my nose, e.g. only one nostril works at a time (they switch back and forth seemingly at random). This is not an issue when my heart rate is elevated due to high levels of activity, adrenaline, nicotine, etc. I do not know what could be causing this, i have been experiencing it for several months now. At first it would only happen while i was lying down, but now it's most of the time. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you allergic to anything? Pollen, fresh cut grass, pet hair? That would be the first guess.

Its in the 90's with high humidity and pressure where I live right now, and that added to high pollen and particulate pollution has me clogged up in the evenings. Fresh ginger root tea helps me alot with this, along with horseradish, but I'll warn you now, the horseradish really goes to your head. ;) Your eyes and nose will stream, but it will unclog the nose well.

Maybe get a neti pot. It helps relieve sinus passages and helps with allergies.

A neti pot is a device used for irrigating the nasal passages - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neti_pot

Hi burningserenity,

Welcome to our forum. :)

We recommend all new members to post an introduction in the Newbies section telling us a bit about themselves, how they found the cass material, and how much of the work here they have read.

You can have a look through that board to see how others have done it.

Without knowing more information, I would also recommend a neti pot. I have been using mine about twice a day for three months now due to illnesses I've gotten from being at work. It is a homeopathic alternative that is far less invasive than chemical-based nasal sprays that used to burn and cause me to be nervous and restless! Also, my friend had surgery a couple years ago, because she had chronic nasal infections. She's glad she did it, because she doesn't get them anymore and she doesn't snore either! Welcome to the forum! :)
