I wondered if anyone had any advice they could offer that maybe I have overlooked in the following.
My 8 year old son has for the last 18 months been suffering regularly from nightmares and sleep disturbance. He is happy at home and school and we have discussed with him if there is anything worrying him, but he says not.
He quite often wakes in the night and thinks he has seen something/someone that is in his room, but now twice he has woken up saying that he has heard voices in his head speaking in a strange language.
When I spoke to him about the language was it like a foreign language? he said "No an ancient language". I don't know how he has made arrived at that conclusion as he doesn't seem to able to explain himself why "ancient".
We have been getting him to listen to the POTS before sleep and this seems to help. Alongside this he was also suffering very bad headaches, two in two weeks that were literally so bad they reduced him to tears.
We have had his eyes tested and they test fine for vision so it's not his eyes. We are careful with his diet and have cut out potatoes completely ( I am allergic to nightshades ) he to wasp stings, and so far the headaches have stopped. We limit television and they are not allowed to watch inappropriately scary stuff.
The reason I'm posting is he heard the voices in his head again on waking this morning. I have spoken in a fairly lighthearted manner with him about tell them to go and talk else where, no one has the right to talk in your head, just joking with him about telling them to go away. I don't want to make him too anxious about it. But part of me is worried I'm not doing enough.
Any ideas anyone?
