I have a few questions and because of the sensitive nature of discussing HIV, I understand if anyone that has it... doesn't want to respond. Recently I have been renewing an old friendship with a woman I used to work for in the bar industry. Lost story, short... she contracted HIV in 06 and was put on medications. Shortly after changing a lot of her old bad habits she decided to try and heal herself through diet and exercise, alone. Then she quit taking the medication which caused her to become sicker.
When she realized that idea was not working she then begin another regimen of different even stronger medicine because the disease had progressed. Since that time, about 4 years ago, she has remained vigilant in taking all the medication as per the doctors orders, and has made remarkable strides in getting it under control. She is still avidly doing the diet and exercise, but it was using all the wrong information such as the low fat, high veggies and carbs that is still being recommended in society.
When I shared the findings of your experience with paleo and now ketogenic diets, she is really interested in the results. Neither of us are very knowledgeable when it comes to this and I'm still reading and rereading the LWB and ketogenic threads to start trying to get healthier. I understand that HIV is another auto immune disease but I don't understand how different it is from other auto immune disease such as RA, lupus or even IBS.
Is there a book that you recommend that can help her understand more about HIV along with the above mentioned treads? Do any of you that may have HIV have any advise that may make a difference when it comes to diet and or healing. And BTW, she has stated that she will not be going off the medicine again... unless forced by circumstances in the ever changing world today. And thanks in advance for any info!
