Charting the beginning of modern communications, this documentary looks at the creation of the telegraph & telegrams. From its cumbersome precursor to the discovery of the electromagnet, the early railway tests to messages proper, we see how the world was forever changed. Burgeoning wide-scale commerce of instantaneous communication (24/7 businesses) & war reporting (not to mention political manipulation which is briefly alluded to) & Morse code, the information transfer of the telegraph era (Morse code only stopped in 1999 apparently) is shown as the forerunner to today's internet.
