how to recover after vomitting a lot?

This story might make more sense, for me to mention I am living at college at the moment.

Last night I threw up 10 times in a row. Then I got a class of water to drink and a piece of fruit to get the taste out of my mouth. I don't think this was very smart, because afterwards, I threw up 6 more times.

Then, I talked to a nurse on the phone, and she said not to drink anything for 1 hour, and afterwards, have at most a tablespoon of water per 5 minutes for the next 8 hours. I followed this advice and didn't throw up anymore thankfully.

this happened between 1:30-2am. I had lay down at 12am and not been able to sleep because my stomach felt uncomfortable.

I think drinking 1 cup of goat milk, after having a very large meal at 4pm is what caused it.

Normally I eat a large meal in the morning, and a smaller meal 4 hours before I go to bed. because of my schedule I ended up having a small breakfast, and very large lunch.

I bought the goat milk on thursday, and had two cups. it gave me abdominal pain, and gas. I have not had dairy in 8 months except a splash of milk in tea or coffee a few times. SO I realized I can't really drink milk, but I didn't see the harm in finishing it up yesterday, unfortunately.

I could not get to sleep the whole night after throwing up. my body started to ache a lot and same for my head. my stomach also felt uncomfortable.

By the morning, my stomach is felt better, but I have felt feverish all day. Not too bad though, I was able to do some cleanup.

The thought of eating meat/fat disgusts me. today I laid in bed most of the day, and I ate 1.5 lb of fruit... i am worried my appetite for meat will not come back... that's the main reason I post. I don't know if there would be anything to speed up the process of recovery

If I went through that, I would probably have gone to the hospital to see a doctor and get an IV. What else besides goat milk was included in your very large meal at 4pm?

It was a pot roast I made. It had lots of chopped suet, and some bones and beef cuts.

after I ate the large serving, and had the goat milk, I got very tired. and slept from 5pm-8pm. When I got up at 8pm I was already feeling very disgusted by the thought of food. mostly the meal i had eaten previously.

I just had 3 hours of sound sleep. so i think I'm recovering.

The nurse, did ask me some questions to check if I was dehydrated. but I guess I wasn't. I've had a dry mouth on and off today, but am continuing to drink water, just at a slow pace, to prevent vomiting again.

Sounds like food poisoning from the goat milk possibly combined with a reaction to the dairy.

The best thing to have for recovery would be bone broth with reduced fat, NOT FRUIT.

Do you often do things without thinking them through?

based on how achy my neck, and body feels. I'm starting to think I might have caught a virus. and the milk and large meal I don't normally eat, were just coincidences. the weird thing, is that the headache and achy feelings only started coming on after I vomited, and I don't see the reason for that.

vomiting depletes the body of electrolytes fast, hence your headache and achy feelings. As Heimdalir said when one vomits so much its always a good idea to get IV drip.
Goat milk if taken raw carries high risk of Brucelosis infection. If you have a fever its very likely it is some sort of a bug.
If your stomach can hold it nice bone broth is a good idea, also drink some salty water.

In the initial stages of vomiting, using activated charcoal might help:

http://www.charcoalremedies.com/vomiting

"In the case of nausea and vomiting, after each vomiting episode, drink a mixture of one to two large spoonfuls of powder in a little water. You may follow the charcoal water with a glass of plain water, if tolerated. If the charcoal is vomited up, drink another glass of charcoal water immediately.

"Cases of nausea and vomiting, of whatever cause, will almost invariably respond to charcoal taken orally. If the patient vomits after an initial dose of charcoal, a second or third dose will typically settle the stomach. A charcoal poultice may also be applied to the stomach area which will help with abdominal pain."

I sympathise with your situation, and I too think that it was a reaction to the milk, but I'm amazed that you decided you should finish it off after the first attempt resulting in abdominal pain and gas.

As Laura says, try some bone broth, water it down with some water, and if you like you can add a little apple cider vinegar, which seems to help those that have a problem with breaking down the fat in the stomach.

The season of stomach flu has just started, but that you had mainly vomiting speaks more about food poisoning from the goat milk. Then, when your digestive system is not working properly, dairy products are the last thing you should have. I would just drop all dairy products altogether, except for butter for when things start to work smoothly again.

Broth has been the good old cure for digestive problems since times immemorial. I have a few teaspoons as cold gelatin when my stomach feels wonky and it feels very soothing and alleviating.

Thanks for the Advice to the people that responded. I was not able to make a bone broth this weekend unfortunately. I did have a stomach ache off and on all day yesterday. Since I rarely have stomach aches I'm guessing its related to still recovering or something. Also I had a regular meal for the fist time yesterday, and it could be related to that. If any troubles persist I will probably restrict my eating and make a bone broth as soon as Wednesday.

The achyness and feverish-feeling was mostly over with by Saturday. I am guessing it was post vomiting symptoms like someone mentioned, and I probably did not have a virus.
