Hundreds of protesters blocking Mauna Kea Access Road in efforts to stop TMT

This video is from Dec. 21 2016 so the protest here has been going on for awhile. It describes the innovated technologies being used at the observatories here and why conditions are so optimal which is interesting, seems like a PR piece. The woman being interviewed is a native Hawaiian who loved her work at the observatories for many years. But now she's speaking against the continued construction on the mountain top which will destroy the sacredness of the land.

Mauna Kea Volcano rises high above the landscape on the north side of Hawaii's Big Island, stretching 13,796 feet (4205 meters) above the beaches along the Kohala coast. Massive Mauna Kea is the tallest mountain in the world, towering 33,476 feet (10,204 meters) above its base on the floor of the Pacific Ocean. By comparison, the elevation of Mount Everest is 29,029 feet (8,848 meters) above sea level, making it the highest mountain on earth.

There are 5 volcanoes on Hawaii. I seem to recall Mauna Kea is considered the most active after Mauna Loa but I couldn't find info on this while looking. I watched the Disney movie mentioned in the video and thought it was quite sad. Its about the destruction of the Hawaian Islands by a dark force.

Thanks for posting 1peacelover. I like knowing whats happening in Hawaii.
