Hurricane Jova

Just when we eagerly assumed our hurricane season was over, this giant storm changed tracks, increased in strength and is now forecast to pass within 30 miles of us tomorrow with winds in excess of 75mph. On Jova's heels is TS Irwin, predicted to arrive Friday-ish. A real slap in the face for those of us anticipating....

We are currently removing all possible flying objects from outside, covering windows and generally preparing for a worse-case scenario, while hoping for the best, of course.

Yesterday we topped up our water supplies and filled the freezer with food and ice(it's well insulated) as we expect power to be out for a while(internet too). The pantry is full(ish); oil-lamps, mops and buckets are out.....I think we're ready.

Also I wish you good luck. Be safe and please give us feedback is everything ok.

Sounds like you have prepared well enough.
I'm not looking forward to the cyclone season starting soon over here,
Hope your OK. Good luck!

Thanks folks. As we suspected/hoped, it seems the high mountains surrounding us have greatly reduced the predicted wind speed. It's currently pretty mellow(considering) with only light rain. The brunt of the storm should arrive later this afternoon.

It's definitely good for us to be reminded of the potential threats every now and again and strive towards being prepared. There will always be others who aren't and will need our assistance.

Wish you the best with your upcoming season, koin.
