Identity politics is a steam roller

This will spread. It is just a matter of time. When it does, people will be arguing about pronouns rather than what their government is doing. Clever !!!

The University of Minnesota has proposed a policy that could punish students by expelling them, and professors by firing them, if they do not use someone’s preferred gender pronoun. Students are allowed to choose from a list of personal pronouns on the campus website: He/him/his, none, prefer not to specify, she/her/hers, they/them/theirs, or ze/zir/zirs. They can also specify their gender as follows: Agender, gender nonconforming, genderqueer, man, nonbinary, prefer not to specify, two spirit, woman, or they can enter their own. This policy is dangerous because it goes beyond censorship and actually compels speech.

It’s crazy what’s happening in Universities these days- the sad thing is what happens in academia eventually trickles out into the wider community. It won’t be long before it’s corporate policy to fire someone for mis-gendering another co-worker. A world gone mad indeed :scared:

Actually, too much complexity will eventually ask for oversimplification. The old communist regimes recognized gender only from fiziological perspectives. Otherwise everyone was ‘comrade’. Maybe in the future everyone would become a Z something. I guess catching a lot of zzzs will be a banned expression.

Identity politics has becomes a really big problem. It is being weaponized against the very people it was meant to assist.

A strait black woman interviews a gay white man about it.
