One of my good friends, who is my age (25) lives and works in the US (has all his life).

Now I have been over and stayed with him and his family, he is a smart guy, graduated with honours and works as a team leader for a government department dealing with transport security.

Anyway, I was talking with him on MSN today, and I thought I would paste the log...... As I said, my friend is an "intelligent" guy.... but I am just starting to understand just how naive most of the US is to what is going on in the world.....

Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of switched on people too.... but hey Bush was still elected right.....

It is funny. Cause no matter how 'intellegent' a person is in the US. They have all succumbed to the ‘American dream’. Your friend doesn’t even have time to check the subjective mainstream news, yet he is so sure of the state of the US and other countries. SO tipical!

No, Bush was clearly not elected. It sounds like this Jeff person is so asleep and programmed that he doesn't even understand the concept of living, much less death. Even more obvious is that he thinks/feels that this stupidity is cool and funny - thus all the 'lol' and even the 'shrug' - how incredibly sad for this guy - he's a walking corpse. Wow, Tim, I have to admit that I would not be able to even have a conversation with someone that ignorant. (ignorant, not stupid) Considering that he works for the government, and in transport security, there could be a very tangible element of programming and mind control involved, but still, this guy is a poster child for why the planet's inhabitants hate the states. I feel for you, because there is very little worse than seeing that in someone you regard as a friend.

After reading this truly sad conversation, it reminded me that it may just be possible to tell if someone is an Organic Portal by how they relate to certain ideas, especially the abstract suffering of other humans. When anart said "he's a walking corpse", I couldn't have agreed more; this assessment may be very close to the truth. The whole "lol" in every second message gave me the impression that this guy is either on something or is a soulless individual, or both. Like anart, there's no way I would be able to continue a conversation with someone such as this. It would definitely set the alarm bells ringing in my head.

Surprised nobody mentioned this, as I thought this was the most worthy of comment. Not only does it not make sense in the context of the argument ("we destroyed that Arab country, why should another be different?") it is downright psychopathic. Have to be careful interpreting people's intentions from internet posts, though....

Eh i think ya'll may be overanalyzing. I agree, he does seem asleep, but its a casual conversation over instant messaging. I find that when you can actually look people in the eye it gives you a much better idea of their internal state. He's obviously unaware of current events in even the CNN style updates, if he saw some of the info and had one of us sitting there to give it context he may have a different point of view. Depends on how open his mind is to recieving new info.

Would that be why there's more troops going out there from the UK? In the early reports of the Brit troops going out there, it was mentioned 'another bumper year for the opium crops', much the same as the last time the Brit troops went out there to protect a huge poppy crop.
