illnesses caused by obsessions with false beliefs?

A Disturbance in the Force
Hi everyone!
In one of the articles, I read that "If there are problems, illness, difficulties of all kinds, then one is obsessed in some way with a false belief. No exceptions.... search their own mind to discover that they are holding on to a belief or an assumption that is an obsession." Can people please comment on their experiences with this? And how to know which particular beliefs are causing the physical problems? And can changing the belief actually cure you once the ailment has gotten to the physical plane? I'm assuming it isn't the same idea as chanting positive affirmations. Thank you!

welcome to the forum.

I guess one of the basic fundamental things is how stress affects the body. The way we think, and the way we are not in control of our emotions can cause all kinds of physical ailments. And this causes us to lose control of our emotions, to lack clear thinking, and so it goes round in a negative feedback loop.

False beliefs are going to lead one, eventually, to encounter things that conflict with these beliefs. This can be a source of cognitive dissonance, and stress. So, right there we have a key.

Also, false beliefs will cause one to take the 'wrong action' (based on those false beliefs) which again implies that it will be damaging in some way.

Changing, or seeing through a 'belief' is ultimately going to cause one to change one's actions, and take more objectively useful steps, and therein lies the potential cure.

Hi tatyana11,

I'd like to invite you to post an intro in the newbies section. It doesn't have to be long, just a little about yourself and how you found the forum.

Yes, I believe that illnesses [CAN BE] caused by obsessions with false beliefs.

I think that I watched both my parents give up on life & die. For example, one cat of ours that when it came her time, crawled under an outbuilding and died. Looked as if she KNEW what was coming. I'm sure many many instances can be cited by myself and others who have seen this happen with living creatures as a flesh, water & bones body. In sticking to mental distress here... Yes, stress, strong emotions can wear one down. Without a glimmer of hope ones' body may survive, but the drive for survival diminishes, atrophies to a point where one does nothing for themselves. Not even discussing areas of hygiene. So absorbed within their chosen negativity that they neglect eating, not take medications, getting off their arse to go through the motions needed to drink necessary liquids for health, depriving the body of sustenance. Just don't give a damn, sheer hopelessness as it appeared to me. Nothing I could do or say was gonna change the situation. And yes, after the body is neglected enough, it simply shuts down, the body stops to function and you die, but I prefer to hope a soul continues on. They did not hold this view, appears to me they willed themselves to death. And I also think negativity in this or past lives can affect the physical body, But there are always three sides to a coin...
Shoot, so much for my one liner answer... :cool2: :cool2: :cool2:
