Hi all.
I was looking at Gary Varvel's cartoons (he is the author of 'Tin man's oil' cartoon in the latest Connecting the dots) when I saw this:

But apparently 12 wasn't the final number.Gary Varvel said:If you go through my archive you'll find that every summer I have do one of these cartoons. This year the number of homicides has been a little lower than last year. But this cartoon was sparked by 12 homicides in 12 days in Indianapolis.
And this is what C's had to say once about Indianapolis:http://www.wthr.com/Global/story.asp?S=8773900&nav=9Tai
Indianapolis - A teenager found shot to death early Thursday morning makes July 2008 the deadliest July in Indianapolis history.
Police are looking for suspects in that teen's murder. Clois Goldsmith, 18, was shot in the head and killed on the city's northeast side.
Residents heard a shot, but the victim wasn't found until later, lying behind a car at Butler Terrace apartments on the northeast side. Police say two men wearing dark hoodies were seen leaving the area after the shooting.
Goldsmith's murder was the 18th for the month of July and pushes the year total to 71, an increase of one from the same time last year.
And this is his other 'Indy Slayings' cartoon.C's said:Q: (L) Can you designate any of the areas where this violence may occur in the near future?
A: Indianapolis.
Q: (A) What is that? (L) Indianapolis is a city in Indiana. Well that's something that has never been mentioned. What kind of violence?
A: Hit by focusing beam of the HAARP array.
Q: (L) Well that's weird. (A) By mistake? An accident?
A: No.
Q: (L) What will be the outcome of Indianapolis being hit by this focusing beam of the HAARP array?
A: Mind controlled violence.
Q: (L) Can we know what form it will take?
A: Shootings.
Gary Varvel said:For those who mistakenly believe that all editorial cartoons are supposed to be funny, this one is not funny. It is intended to be a graphic way of using signs to assess the mood in the city.
