The Force is Strong With This One

article said:
IRANIAN forces are being choppered over the Iraqi border to bomb Our Boys, intelligence chiefs say.

Military experts claim this worrying move means we are at WAR with Iran in all but name.

Last night an intelligence source told The Sun: “It is an extremely alarming development and raises the stakes considerably. In effect, it means we are in a full on war with Iran — but nobody has officially declared it.

“We have hard proof that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps have crossed the border to attack us.

“It is very hard for us to strike back. All we can do is try to defend ourselves. We are badly on the back foot.

Our Boys picked up the Iranian helicopters on radar crossing into empty desert.

The sightings have been confirmed to The Sun by very senior military sources.

At least two Brit squaddies are thought to have been killed by bombs planted during these incursions into Maysan province — Corporal Ben Leaning, 24, and Trooper Kristen Turton, 27.

A further 44 British deaths have also been linked to the highly advanced bombs, rockets and mortars which originated in Iran.

Coming so swiftly after the kidnap of 15 Royal Navy sailors in the Gulf, our revelation will send strained relations between London and Tehran plummeting further.

Until now, secret units from Iran’s fanatical RGC have restricted themselves to just training and arming Shia rebels in Iraq.

They include the al Quds Brigade — a secretive force tasked to spread Islamic revolution abroad who are the main backers for Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon and are also active in Palestine and northern Iraq.

An MoD spokeswoman said: “There is evidence that explosive devices used against our troops in southern Iraq originated in Iran.

“Any Iranian link to armed militias in Iraq either through weapons supply, training or funding are unacceptable.
Has anyone heard anything about this story? Seems very carefully crafted in its wording, surely there is more to to it than what is being portrayed here? Why would Iran make such a blatant move? Have they truly? And as the article would have us believe, are we now "in full on war with war with Iran"?

Post sript: I also realize I refer to US troops in the thread title when the article is from a British paper and quotes British Intelligence sources and refers to British troops without thinking I automatically lumped the two (UK/US) together since they are a coalition. It is curious to me that they would single the British out in this development and in its announcement. Has anyone seen this in US wires?

"Our Boys" the "us and them" emotional trap of basic propaganda! when I was a child I was told "don't believe a liar even he happens to say truths" so it is with mass media and propaganda :)

This will be one to keep an eye on in the press. The Sun is part of Rupert Murdoch's News Limited media conglomerate, so they may be testing the waters in the UK. I've just had a look using a couple of keywords from the article on Google news and nothing elsewhere as yet. But who knows, could become editorial policy over the next few days.

Iran and Saudi Arabia have the largest state controlled oil suppliers, Iran is sitting on approximately 300 billion barrels according to this article. So this could be an indications of a hostile takeover, much like Murdoch's rumblings towards the wall Street Journal.

After all war is just organized theft.

Hmm, well CNN and BBC both said that Iran was rationing it's petro, so maybe this story about these so called attacks are very much connected to why Iran's government has decided to start rationing petro:

Or so I think.

This is interesting since it is likely Iraq is under full 24 hour surveillance from Radars, Helicopters, Satellites as well as aircraft. I'm taking a guess that it is not only that these Radars, Satellites.. are from within Iraq but also out at sea, and from Afghanistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. So where's the proof Mr. NoName is talking about?

I wonder if Cheney's private bunker (where he goes into hiding during self induced events) isn't just going to Murdoch's house. I hope it doesn't sound like I am downplaying this. Certainly it shows how we'll (the 'us') go to any lengths to demonize the Iranian people/government ('them'), over something that is not only "NOT" happening, but something they could give evidence of instead of Lie about.

They can fly under radar (though it is implied they have evidence of them flying in ON radar) but likely not satellites. Unnamed speakers, talk of evidence but no images, evidence or proof forthcoming.

"Our Boys picked up the Iranian helicopters on radar crossing into empty desert." Maybe it is just a false flag army (platoon, squad sized), hiding behind sand bags and shooting up in the air?

Just some thoughts.

Hmm or maybe they're the ones who have attacked, crossed Iran's border and whatnot, and are instead twisting the events and laying the blame on Iran. This latter conjecture might explain why Iran has decided to suddenly start rationing petro, or so I think.

Johnno- Same. I signed up for Google alerts and have only gotten stories that still sound more like a build up yet are being more and more direct in accusing Iran of aiding and abetting "terrorists" in Iraq.

For example,

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Coalition Forces detained three suspects during operations before dawn on Saturday in Sadr City as part of an effort to deny Iranian influence in Iraq. Saturday, Coalition Forces working with Iraqi informants conducted an operation to capture suspected terrorists with ties to Iran. The assault force detained three suspects for questioning.
The wording in above article "as part of an effort to deny Iranian influence in Iraq." seems to attempt to suggest to the reader they are still taking some sort of gentle approach.

I am curious what the flashpoint will be or will it be anti-climatic and continue to proceed by blurring the lines and pure fabrication?

Saman what you point out could very well be the case, they (Iran) may be battening down the hatches knowing the inevitable (thanks to propaganda, counter intelligence, and all sorts of criminal acts) is near.

Note the pity ploy in the Sun/Murdoch article: “It is very hard for us to strike back. All we can do is try to defend ourselves. We are badly on the back foot."

Here's another melodramatic gem, "Coming so swiftly after the kidnap of 15 Royal Navy sailors in the Gulf, our revelation will send strained relations between London and Tehran plummeting further."
