Iron Man 2

For the record, I have never liked the character of Tony Stark, or Iron Man. Robert Downy Jr is the only reason he was likable in the first Iron Man. In the second, I think the editors went overboard with the showboating of Stark's character.

The first five to ten minutes of egomania was tough to sit through. Even my Hubby could barely stand it. When the action got going it was a lot better, but it still wasn't as fun as the first movie. I'd have to say the characterizations were spot on for everyone who had a cameo or smaller part too. Whiplash was amazing, and I really think Mickey Rourke disliked everyone he worked with on the set and it wasn't acting. :D

It was a bit of a shock to see the same actor who starred in Moon play a psychopath in this movie. He did it so well it was another performance that was tough to watch. It's surprising the caliber of actors that jump into these comic book movies, it reminds me of the old Batman TV shows, only with better special effects.

If you want to see this one, its fine to wait for it to come out later on dvd or netflix. It would be loads cheaper.

I saw this movie the other night and thought the same thing as you about the first 5-30 min of the movie.

And Sam Rockwell did a great job- he's one of my favorite actors.

I did like this movie- even though it was mostly jazz and pazaz, it was enjoyable for a carefree evening.

Agreeing with you there on Tony Stark's character! I think the movie is glamorizing Narcissism!

Having said that... It's still is an enjoyable no-brainer! :P

****************Spoiler alert**************

I was only expecting a "bigger is better" thing from the film, so I was really impressed with the character of Whiplash, his back story and what he does in the film. I thought it was very clever how his development parallels Stark's from the first film in that he is captured, imprisoned and forced to work on a weapon for a "bad guy", but he uses that as an opportunity to do his own thing.
