Is there something about Che Guevara?

Maybe, sometimes, we want to cover the ones we would like to put in that "Pantheon of Heroes" with an "all-good and pure" blanket, but the truth is that they are all human beings, not perfect, just as we are. They just seemed to fight for something which was bigger than themselves, for freedom, etc... so they deserve to be remembered, OSIT.

About he being a "homicidal maniac", well, that's the sort of thing that we hear about Caesar at school... and about Putin nowadays... that should give us a clue, I suppose.

I agree with you Yas.

That was my thought before, I wanted heroes "all-good and pure", I used think about Che that someone that kill could not be a revolutionary, but now I see that there are many more nuances to consider, and I know little about him.

I think the demonization of Putin is the clearest example of manipulation we have the opportunity to observe and still there are many people who believe it. Imagine in the days when there was no Internet

I suppose it's not possible to be an anti-imperialist jerk, or a psychopathic physician. Perhaps it's also not possible for a psychopathic physician to be an opportunist and to charm and kill his way to revolutionary fame under the guise of being anti-imperialist. And maybe it would never happen that an anti-imperialist psychopath would miscalculate his chances to secure his own, regional fiefdom within a global, colonial network of psychopaths, perhaps due to wishful thinking.

Of COURSE, all those things are possible. So without knowing someone personally or experiencing things personally, it is hard to know for certain what the true motive of the person is. Even then, with personal knowledge of a person, we can be fooled. Look at the stories of people who have lived with or been acquainted with people who turned out to be killers and when they found out, were at a loss as to how such a "nice, quiet person" could have done such things.
