Jesus Camp

My friend just sent me the link to something most disturbing. I have not seen the actual documentary that this ABC report is on, but the report itself gave me the chills. One of the images include kids shown worshipping to the image of Bush... yikes.

Here is the intro to the video on Shoutwire:

Speaking in tongues, weeping for salvation, praying for an end to abortion and worshipping a picture of President Bush - these are some of the activities at Pastor Becky Fischer's Bible camp in North Dakota, "Kids on Fire," subject of the provocative new documentary, "Jesus Camp."

"I want to see them as radically laying down their lives for the gospel as they are in Palestine, Pakistan and all those different places," Fisher said. "Because, excuse me, we have the truth."
And the link:

On the official site for the doc, there are trailers and previews, as well as a link to a Wikipedia article ( http(colon)//en(dot)wikipedia(dot)org/wiki/Jesus_Camp_Documentary ). It appears that this doc won awards and seems to be 'well-funded'. What is its true nature?

According to the distributor, it "doesn't come with any prepackaged point of view", and it tries to be "an honest and impartial depiction of one faction of the evangelical Christian community".
On one hand, it shows us the 'objective reality' of religious fanaticism in America. On the other, it can act as propaganda and a 'religious call to action' for the weak minded...
IMO, it can be adding fuel to the fire - I can just imagine conservative/religious American parents getting 'excited' about this idea after viewing this 'controversial' film (we all know how people like watching much-publicized 'controversial' stuff) and sending their kids to such camps. Could be just another one of many PTB tricks to incite chaos and destruction. After having just read some Cass material about the significance of early-imprinting, the consequences of such camps are obvious - nothing short of radical brainwashing meant to strip people of reason and creativity at an early age. Are we back in the Middle Ages or something?

Of course, I don't know for sure, as I haven't yet seen the documentary. The feeling about it was negative from the start, and I'm very suspicious.

EDIT: I just noticed that this story was already covered by the SOTT team yesterday. I was looking through the archive, because I missed yesterday's edition. Sorry for the repetition! Still bothers the hell out of me...

Ya i brought it up in jacjon's post "Evangenical's and the 'fight' for god"

here: http://www.cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php?topic=3370

and ill iterate, i def wanna see this film. If it's accurate it could be a potent form of info for the masses, just to know that these things occur.

An american version of the hitler youth ? chillingly similar.Next the kids will be doing drills with M16 in hand and pledgeing their lives to the fatherland. It must be remembered that the hitler youth also had humble beginnings.

I haven't seen it as yet and only seen the publicity but from what I can gather, some sections of the evangelical christian right are just as upset about this as are the "liberals".

And I think this is the crux of it.

Wiki has negative, positive and neutral snippets.

I just finished watching this documentary all the way through.

I guess it's one thing to read about this stuff, but to see it happening close up and see the kid's faces is a bit disturbing. It was almost too much to watch in some parts and I had to cover my mouth to keep from screaming or crying - I'm not sure which!

The poor children are definitely being brainwashed, there is no question about that. One thing that caught my attention was the way in which the boys and girls would talk like "adults" and use adult type language. They likely did not understand what they were saying for the most part, only the trauma induced guilt feeling behind it. I recall reading in a book about parental alienation in divorce cases that this one of the big signs of brainwashing: when children start to use adult language and phrases to describe how they feel about something or someone. In Jesus Camp this was unmistakable.

Listening to the pastor lady talk to the talk radio host (can't recall the names) and hearing her Machiavellian logic to justify the brainwashing of children was just incredible. Why that woman is not behind bars right now for child abuse is beyond me.

And in addition to this, from what I've been reading about Dominionist prayer mapping, aggressive "sheparding" and church cells, I have no doubt that we, in the US, live among a powerful cult that is getting ready to unleash a fury on the world the likes of which we have never seen before.

God help us...

I didn't watch the documentary, but judging from the posts, articles about the camp and the (by now) tons of related blog posts, I'm glad it shut down.

I saw this documentary quite a few years back. It was utterly disturbing the brainwashing methods occuring. And their logic behind it was even more laughable, but in an uncomfortable, take 5 steps back laughable.

Even spent some time talking to my neighbour about it, who had seen it himself and he liked the documentary and thought what they were doing was okay. You can imagine how taken aback I was. Here I was pointing out the insanity of what they were doing and he's merrily saying it's okay, not a big deal. Nice guy, knows a lot about music, but very ignorant.
