I came across this excellent documentary while browsing cartoonist Tom Tomorrow's blog yesterday. Don't know which made my stomach turn more: Richard Secord earning his very good living by selling arms to the Contras, and following orders at the same time; or hearing Reagan calling the Contras "freedom fighters" and comparing them to your Founding Fathers.
And this next link is supposedly the whole 90 minutes of it (this link doesn't work for me, source: http://getintheirface.blogspot.com/2006/07/secret-government-pbs-bill-moyers-1987.html):
Took the time to watch this as a recapitulation of what was going on during part of my youth. Had watched these things then in disgust, and like Moyers then, had no language for the exact whys of these things. Connecting the dots, imo, deeply required the language of Lobaczewski’s ‘ Political Ponerology’ and others echoing his same studied view's both then and now. Without that specific language, men like Oley North and those who controlled him far and wide, get reasoned away by so many splintered co-opted world views, which is a vast danger to humanity. After experiencing these things of the past, we are now back in the same place, well far worse actually as we let their like take us over more completely, a human coups d'état by Pathocrats, and the only response generally that comes from the street is "we know its bad, what can you do, its just the way it is" - eyes wide shut.
Keep that inch and never let them have it. If enough do this, humanity will have miles.
