Just caught a big meteor over the south of the Netherlands

Snow

Jedi Master
While having smoke outside and looking at the evening sky, my eye caught a fiery line to the right of me. Instinctively(?) I ran inside to get my mobile phone to take some pictures. I discount planes, because I know how those look like (they travel higher and have a thin white line). Could be space debris, but this big and burning for this long?

I apologize for the shaky quality. Also, the clouds were kinda in the way. Althought the pictures do not do it justice. It had a nice long, broad, yellow/orange tail, was travelling slowly and had a big fiery bright orange head. I think it was heading South - West, towards Belgium.

Wow, my adrenaline was pumping! Talk about reality in your face :scared:

Question. I got a couple of pictures, but how to insert them here? :-[

Under the edit box, you have "Attachments and other options" with a "+" at the left. Clic on it and you have an option to attach files (under 512KB each and under 2048KB total size).

Thanks mkrnhr!

I had to compress them, due to their size. (Also posted them on my FB account)

Very interesting! Thanks!

I feel that we're going to see more and more of these as time goes by.

And I bet the 'authorities' will have more and more trouble at trying to cover this. I mean, yeah, missiles, ok but everywhere? All the time? I don't think so...

Oh my my my...

That is more severe than I thought.

Well, we're in it now. There's nothing we can do but to prepare.

"Professor Bailey said this has happened before, notably the great meteor of August 18 1783 and a meteor procession in February 9 1913."

Wow. I'm actually amazed that this man still has the right to teach people...

*Slaps forehead*

Thanks for the link, Perceval.

Super-bright Fireball Explodes Over Finland, 21 September 2012

We had here in Finland a very bright bolide during the night of 20th/21st September, at 00:34:41 UT. I attach the FINE images from Mikkeli by Aki Taavitsainen and Jani Lauanne and the color image (with web camera) by Harri Frestadius in Lappeenranta:

Check the pics! They are of a very nice quality!
