Has any one of you had any prior experience with Kefir grains? Apparently it's highly recommended.

I started to take it myself from the beginning of this week. It supposidly help to remove all the toxins from the body in a "non violent" way (kidneys, liver, stomach), heal digestive problems, lang problems and increase energy level. From a personal experience of someone I know, it's even help to regulate sugar levels.
The only requirement is not to drink alcohol (or only wine, glass a day. Beer is a "no no") and you have to take care of this mushroom on a daily basis (change the milk and wash it)

Unfortunately you can't buy it at stores, only by receiving it from another person who has it (mushroom multiply it's size after 17 days).

Kefir is known, produced and sold in Turkiye. It is made of goat's milk and was known by turks when they were in central asia.
Both kefir and yogurt are produced by the fermentation of milk. Yogurt is prebiotic that is it increases the production of prebiotics but kefir itself is prebiotic (helpful microorganism) yogurt contains the microorganisms of bifidobacteria and lacto bacilli, kefir has in addition to these Lactobacillus Caucasus, Leuconostoc, asetobacteria ve streptococus bacteria and fungus like Saccharomyces kefir and Torula kefir. kefir helps in relieving the body of its toxins, increases the absorbtion of B complex vitamins also helps in the synthesis of K vit, B1 vitamin, pantothenik acid, niacin, folic acid, B12, and biotin.

The mushroom sounds like Kombucha which is gaining popularity in the health market. It's anoter form of pro-biotic which is supposed to aid in the growth of healthy intestinal flora. I worked with a few russians acrobats who swore by the stuff. They had a mushroom that was in thier family for several generations. When a new neighbor would move in, they would slice off a piece of the mushroom and give it to them as a gift.
You can get Kombucha soda in some healthfood markets. I remember in france I could find it in gas stations! It has a soothing effect on the stomach, when I drink it. I've been meaning to get my own mushrooms for years and never get around to it....

If you know Hebrew, try to look for it on Israel "alternative medicine" forums or just type in google "פטריה יוגית"
and follow the links. You can ask people there. Apparently, it's possible to buy it in health stores (but I am not sure if also in Israel).

Here for example information about this mashroom in Hebrew.

Here is a fellow who is promoting and also selling this product for anyone interested! I have not used this site for buying anything myself! but he sounds legit and has a nice web URL as well.

Best of luck.

I would be curious though how it compares with Chlorella, If anyone knows more on this subject I would love to hear more about using this product and if its any better then Chlorella, or how it may be different then Kombucha.

I have not tried kefir, but I recently tried kombucha tea from the store(GT's brand) and I really enjoyed the taste. I was interested in making kombucha tea myself so I purchased a book by Gunther W. Frank "Kombucha Healthy beverage and natural remedy from the Far East, Its correct preparation and use" I found the book used, it may be no longer in print. The book goes into great detail about how to make it yourself and purported benefits. The beverage seems to have strong detoxifying effects much like kefir. I have started making the tea and it's been really simple. I obtained my starter culture from kombuchaamerica.com. You can experiment with the process and have fun. You end up with a low sugar very refreshing drink!

Hi keit, you can buy kefir on ebay. I bought mine dissecated over a year ago. Used only a few grains because they grow fast, and soon had enough to give away. It really helped me to reconstruct my intestinal flora, it was so damaged by gluten that literally everything was making me sick.
