Kucinich organizing a new grass roots movement

Being from Cleveland, I didn't think Dennis would sit still after his defeat from his House seat. Today I come across this article:

Rep. Dennis Kucinich forms new "movement-based" political action committee

..."Kucinich Action is a natural evolution of what our movement has been doing: standing up, speaking out, acting on our beliefs, and leading to change the outcome on behalf of the people," Kucinich said in a press release that announced the PAC's formation.

He said Kucinich Action will build a grassroots movement to empower individuals to engage within the political process. Columbus attorney Don McTigue will serve as the PAC's treasurer.

"If there's one thing Dennis is known for, it's changing the outcome," McTigue said in the press reelase. "Whether it is saving a municipal electric system, community hospitals, a steel mill, parks, fire stations, municipal services, transportation services or libraries, Kucinich has a proven ability to organize to create positive outcomes that others have deemed impossible. "This new organization will empower others to take charge and change the outcome through organization and meaningful engagement with the political process."

Although the trolls always come out to voice their senseless and disparaging comments on the cleveland dot com site regarding any bit of news that mentions Kucinich, I personally became discouraged about him after he changed his vote on obamacare back in 2008, wondering what trade offs could have been made?

However, he has introduced bills calling for the end of the Federal Reserve, which always end up stuck in committee.

A bill put forward by Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) would do what libertarians and conservatives have long wished for: effectively end the Federal Reserve.

The National Emergency Employment Defense (NEED) Act of 2011 would place the Federal Reserve, a private, qusai-governmental institution that controls the nation’s monetary policy, under control of the U.S. Treasury. It would also implement new rules for the financial industry, in hopes of ending the worst abuses that created the 2008 financial collapse and the ensuing recession.

Questions in my mind about this new movement are, if we truly have a person here who can organize and cut through the red tape to enable peoples' voices to be heard in congress (that is, if they care enough to listen), then why is he still alive? and also, is this just another way to cause more division amongst us? -or, more opportunities for the police state to crack down, label as felons and/or jail those who will have the courage to stand up for their rights?

The link to the movement's website: _http://action.kucinich.us/page/s/bold-voices/issues/depleted_uranium.php

...Throughout history, we have seen individuals rise up and change the direction of our nation. Together, we can strengthen our communities, create peace, regain our liberties, reform monetary policy, conserve the air, water and land, and reclaim our nation.

It is time to take charge.

Also included is a sign up form.

Pretty lofty goals which do not seem at all possible in this environment. Watching to see how this unfolds.

He's been successfully marginalized and removed from Congress so I think there is no reason for TPTB to take any other action. You hardly hear about him at all on MSM and have to seek out what he was doing when in Congress. Of course if he did make a big impact with this then things could change. Thanks for posting about this. I'll check it out.

Why he is allowed to continue depends on the effects of his efforts on the ruling class. Since a happy worker is a productive worker, I'm sure they don't mind society feeling empowered by allowing changes that amount to drops in the global finance bucket.

The truth will bear out if he is ever to achieve change in something that really matters to the global elite. Allowing municipal reforms is a small price to pay and gives the populace a form of bread and circuses, OSIT.

Changes to the Fed could hurt them. But, like any other regulatory body, they would eventually find ways to control it in a new paradigm. It wouldn't be the end of the world for them.

Real change would be something like major increases on taxes on corporate and personal wealth and transparency and accountability for corporations.

So far, I don't think he's much of a threat and probably helpful in that he helps create the illusion of people power.
