The Living Force
Is anybody here familiar with the work of Ben and Dan Stewart?
They have made some documentaries which are quite formidable and am wondering what are the thoughts on them?
There earliest work is titled Kymatica.
Then follows Esoteric Agenda.
Finally there latest piece UnGrip which I have just watched. This one tackles the idea of freedom. The guy that is featured in the movie has been fighting the struggle to be free. He tackles this problem by working through its opposite, slavery. He looks at what it means to be a slave - a person who is excessively dependent or controlled by something. He says that in natural life there is 3 stages of development, childhood - here the child is dependent upon external help for food, support and health, Adulthood - the child is now free and not dependent on others to be fed, protected or kept in good health and finally Parenthood/leadership - This is when we can govern ourselves and are also ready and willing to help others become self-governing. So in this scheme it turns out that we are a species of perpetual children and that as easy as it would be to blame the system, it is an inescapble truth that the system is a reflection of the people. That the leaders of today are unfortunately nothing more than children in adult bodies wearing leadership clothes. It goes further interms of our participation in the system, that the system acts as a parent - offering us protection, food and support - and that this is a contractual agreement given by consent(here is where the concept of freedom comes in) and participation for the aforementioned benefits but in return we have to accept the terms set forth by it since we are ultimately dependent on it. (Can see the consequence of it in the world as in the case of Libya being attacked for daring to be free and self-governing). The flaw I saw is that, in a theoratical standpoint and to some degree a practical standpoint, it makes sense and does function if you operate from the stand-point of a true revolutionary - stated that this starts from within - but it doesnt tackle the problem of rule by force or intimidation. Big flaw.
From what I can gather from the 1 doc which I have watched (will watch the others later) this is quite something and the concept of knowledge and knowledge protects becomes self-evident. Definately more than enough food for thought especially when you think about it from the point of view of DOing and consent/taking responsibility...
Thoughts are welcomed.
