A remarkable musical orchestra in Paraguay, where young musicians play instruments made from trash.

Received this by email and watched it too, indeed a remarkable orchestra and innovative thinking in creating these instruments. It is a sad statement however that children need to receive instruments from a diseased dump in order to create music.

Wow. This is quite heartwarming. Necessity is indeed the mother of invention.

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for sharing this link, webglider! Very creative!. And so destructive of prejudices. In material poverty you could be very creative, learn amazing things, if there is a will and some benign guide.

I received that one last year via email too. I wrote back to the sender:

Indeed. Especially when you consider this:

The point being, why aren't we ALL talking about the obscenity of "booming billionaires" in the same breath with "feel good stories" about those who suffer as a consequence of the power elite energy/money/resource domination? Why not talk about WHY those kids have to get instruments from a damn landfill to begin with???

I think this is a disturbing trend, I've read or seen a few times now how "poor people" can be creative and ingenious and use the resources available to them in third world countries or during an economic crisis for example.

You don't even have to look far to have articles such as how I managed to live with 150 Euros a month or find tips & tricks to spend less on basic commodities & energy bills.

The underlying message as I understand it, is that it's ok for most of us, we'll always find a way out or a solution so no one really bat an eye-lid that it's not how it should be, that most of the time it won't be enough.
The blame is always shifted on the masses who are not able to make the right choices & sacrifices and we don't start questioning on why we have to spend valuable time finding work-arounds while the wealthy elite is having it easy all the time.

At the same time I admire the creative force of humanity when faced with difficult situations, something that psychopaths will always underestimate and never understand.

Thanks for sharing, Laura. It is very true. But it is hard to see! It's like a veil over the eyes made by a stupid education. If they are poor, "bad luck", "they not have the will to carve out a good life" or another pathological moralism. If misery exist it's because there are also an elite that monopolizes all resources and controls entire societies. And how sad it is to see millions of people with incredible potential in gifts and talents, which could give a lot to others, to Life, but their lives are destroyed in poverty by this predatory system.

Yes, and that could be an important factor in the future, since most will be in such situations more o less. And also psychopaths believe that others who are not like them, are all idiots to manipulate and steal and devastate (wishful thinking). Well, they could find some surprises.
