The Force is Strong With This One
My wife has expressed an interest in Laura's Rieki book (which we read about in "The Wave"). I can't find it on the sott bookstore! Does anyone know where i can get a copy?

Thanks

There is no such thing. I wanted to write one in the past, but there are others who focus on that better than me.

Is it alright to read books on reiki because I am not sure if that a good
way too understand it? Or do I have to go to some place and learn it?
It would be appreciable for comment.

Hi celtic,

I suppose you could get a good general understanding of Reiki by reading a book but eventually you will have to practice to really know it. The problem is to find the right person to teach it to you. This topic here discusses what to look for when searching for a Reiki master. :)

I am presently reading book 2 of the Wave Series and I find the reiki topic of great interest.

Last fall I experienced my first reiki treatment though not for any overt health problem. In fact, my health for most of my life has been very good. Seasonal allergies and a winter flu now and then, nothing more serious. I was simply curious about this form of treatment and decided to choose it as part of a spa package.

The reiki practionner who worked with me told me that if there was any latent or hidden health issue, this kind of treatment would clear it up. I had no way of knowing then or even now if this is true. In any case, the overall experience went well and was very relaxing, so I had no reason to question anything done or said about the treatment.

However, since last fall (since that reiki treatment) it's been one health issue for me after another. As one issue clears up, another one surfaces to take it's place. Of course, none of them are exactly life threatening but the way they hit me so hard makes me wonder what kind of a "treatment" I really got back there. I suspect that if I were to tell that particular practionner what has been happening to me since I saw her, she would tell me that this is all a normal part of the healing aspect. But would that be true??

Although I've read some material out there on this subject I can't find anything that is addressing the focus of my question. The truth is I would rather get another experienced person's feedback on this, if possible, and based on what I've read in book 2, Laura you definitely seem like the right person to ask. Is this how reiki is expected to work on seemingly healthy people with no overt symptoms or health issues?

If your time is limited a simple yes or no would suffice. Thanks!

I would say "no",in general BUT (you knew it was coming, yes?), you could have had hidden issues that additional energy pushed to the surface. Actually, I can't answer the question adequately without knowing the exact nature of the subsequent health issues.

Hi Demitra,

Welcome to our forum. :)

We recommend all new members to post an introduction in the Newbies section telling us a bit about themselves, how they found the cass material, and how much of the work here they have read.

You can have a look through that board to see how others have done it.

Thank you, Laura.

Well, I can't say I knew it was coming. I think it would be more correct to say that I believed the treatment itself was clearing up any issues that might be present. I don't recall ever being told that the treatment was in effect a "dislodging" process and that I would have to deal with those things at a later date.

The first thing that happened one month after the reiki treatment was a severe urinary tract infection, taking two months to clear. One month later, I got hit by a very debilitating flu which also took about two months to overcome. Again, there was a month respite before the regular seasonal allergies kicked in but even though these were expected, the symptoms this year were over and beyond the norm, and they lasted much longer (another two months). When the allergies finally abated I experienced very severe headaches that were not related to anything that was happening in my life--I mean, nothing that I could attribute them to. They were very intense, very excruciating--nothing I did helped. And lastly, my right shoulder joint became extremely swollen for no reason that I could think of. It became very, very tender to movement, to pressure, and even to the pull of gravity. For almost two months (again) I couldn't do anything that required the use of my right shoulder. It's amazing how much a person uses their shoulders in everyday little things.

Thank you for the warm welcome, Venusian. I will indeed look through what is already here and post my experiences with the all the Cassiopaean material in time.
