Laws of Zamolxis(partial)

I didn't have an idea really where to put this one, so I will put it here. Since I posted in the Linguistics section about the language of Romanians, I thought to share with you some of the laws of Zamolxis(a divinity of the Getae-Dacian people)
Here they are:

1. Beyond the flow of time and contemplation of the gods is the living and eternal fire, of which everything is born and through which all have being. Light and darkness, the void and the fullness, motion and stillness, nowhere and everywhere, everything and nothing come from him. Nothing is created without light and everything that comes from light comes to life and takes being.

2. God's path is not easy, but do not forget for a single moment that man can encompass more in love than in hatred, heat rises a lot more than cold can descend.

3. The one who is above sees more than the one who is underneath, lightness stretches more than frost, light penetrates further than darkness does, the power that unites is greater than the power that divides.

4. Be as the haughty mountain and raise your own light above that which surrounds you. Remember that you take the same steps both on top of the mountain and at it's base, the air is the same above and below the tree grows the same way both on top and at it's base, the sun shines the same on top of the mountain as it does on the smooth plains.

5. Be as thrifty as the earth and you will not lack anything. The branch which is full of fruit is more easily broken by the wind, the seed planted too deep won't reach the surface and too much water will drown it.

6. Take heed to the majestic tree, the higher it is, the deeper its roots are in the ground, because the earth gives its strength. Take heed of this mystery and don't forget it, the more you rise, the more you have to descend, because the measure of height is the same as the measure of descent.

7. Just as lightning brings light and from light you get thunder and fire, the same is true about a man's thought, it transform into word and deeds. A man's light is his thought and this is his most valuable possession. The light flourishes through word and a man's will lights the fire through which everything around him comes into being.

8. Watch the river and heed it's teachings. It starts only as a trickle of water, but grows more and more, because it's born out of greatness, this is the way all things must be fulfilled, by their nature.

The same can be said about a good and just thought, it carves it's path through stones and rocks, not taking account of anything, it follows its road and nothing gets in its way. Waters come together and thus become stronger.

9. Take heed of this mystery and don't forget it, that trickle of water knows where it has to go, because it is one with the earth and anything that gets in its way cannot stop it from reaching its destination. Therefore take heed where your thought must go and you will see that nothing will stand in it's way. Let your thought be clear until the end; many things will arise on the way because the nature of things is shifting, just as waters. Water with water come together, earth with earth and mountain with mountain.

10. The power of man starts with the unspoken words, it is like a seed that sprouts, you can't even see when it starts to take it's first breath of life. The light of the seed lifts it up, the earth feeds it, water gives its vigor and patience shrouds it with strength.

11. Beware of the evil thought, avoid like lightning, let it leave the same way it came, for it will urge you to unnatural things. Beware of empty words and the untruth; they are like dust in your eyes, like a spider's web for you mind and your soul. They invite you to pride, deception, theft and bloodshed, and their fruits are shame, helplessness, poverty, disease, bitterness and death.

12. Do not judge people by their weight, by their power, by their beauty or by their zeal, for both one and another sacrificed one thing to increase something else. The rich man is poor in silence, the strong is weak for another and the weak has his hidden strength.

13. Pride cools love and turns it into enmity and there is no man more despicable than the man who has no love in his heart. For love is the first power and her face is light. Take heed lest your mind surrounds itself with pride.

14. Good thoughts and wise words can relieve your sorrow, they can cool your heart, but not heal you, because a man's suffering depends on his pride, since suffering is the shadow of pride.

15. Do not bind your soul to anything earthly, be they things, animals, silver or gold, for they go as easily as they come. After any day comes night and after every winter comes spring because it is ordained and this the natural order of things. Everything we see is born, grows and then return to where they came from.

16. Only the nature of things stays eternal, and it has countless and endless branches, and just like the springs of your mind and soul, they are unseen. For a breath and a fire make everything that grows grow - grass, trees, animals and humans - and they all come from the same hearth and to the same hearth they return, for this hearth is eternal.

17. Just as the majestic tree grows near a smaller one without harming it, so too should you be to each other, the great one must not hit the small one nor fill its soul with bitterness or else he will have a great debt to pay, just like the thief.

Hopefully I will get to translate the others( i think they are 45 in total), and share it with the forum.
