Leonard Cohen, 1934-2016

Jedi Master
Leonard Cohen has passed away at 82. Here's the Associated Press obituary: http://koin.com/ap/singer-songwriter-and-poet-leonard-cohen-dead-at-age-82/ .

Mile Mathis suggested that Cohen was Bob Dylan's ghostwriter. That seems somewhat plausible to me.

He lived a long and interesting life. He'll be singing "Hallelujah" on the other side!

This was my favorite song from him

Yeah that's a good song.
Love that one too: Hey (Leo) that's no way to say Goodbye: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-bJPmasXKs

RIP and sing to us from the other side :violin:

Indeed and thanks for sharing as I grew up with this singer and did not know he has passed...

RIP, Leonard...

One pretty a propos for the times:

_https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_P4IEr-yd8

"I'm sentimental if you know what I mean
I love the country but I can't stand the scene
And I'm neither left or right
I'm just staying home tonight
Getting lost in that hopeless little screen.
But I'm stubborn as those garbage bags that time cannot decay
I'm junk but I'm still holding this little wild bouquet.
Democracy is coming to the USA."

... in this world Leonard seams to have life spent on a right way ...

"When you've fallen on the highway
and you're lying in the rain,
and they ask you how you're doing
of course you'll say you can't complain --
If you're squeezed for information,
that's when you've got to play it dumb:
You just say you're out there waiting
for the miracle, for the miracle to come."

....
ps. edit / ad:

"And Jesus was a sailor when He walked upon the water,
And He spent a long time watching from His lonely wooden tower,
And when He knew for certain only drowning men could see him,
He said "all men will be sailors then until the sea shall free them,"
But He Himself was broken, long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human, He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone."

Indeed, and I had the opportunity to be present at his show that he gave in my city two years ago.

He was good and there were lot of young people at that show.

For sure, he'll be singing "Hallelujah" on the other side.

Here's a link for a short movie done by ONF in Canada (it is in English with subtitles in French)

Thank you Leonard Cohen for the gifts that you brought into this world, in form of your wonderful music.
Hope you will enjoy watching the show from the other side.

One of the most profound and touching music pieces I ever heard is Hallelujah.

Here is a wonderful interpretation of the song:

And another one from Giorgia Fumanti

[...]

Those are great! And I echo Pashalis's comments as well, thank you Leonard! There's something about Hallelujah that's so moving I could listen to it all day.

I really also like Jeff Buckley's interpretation:

May they both rest in peace.

I really enjoyed his music and writing as well.

May he have many great journeys ahead.

Yup, great music, great lyrics, and great voice. RIP.

I was, however, disappointed that he was one of the musicians who refused to cancel a concert in Israel in support of the BDS Movement/Palestinian Solidarity cause I read somewhere - I think around a year ago.

Like others, he is from my home town and grew up listening to him often - quite a life, RIP.

Here is an article on Cohen's new recorded release and his life from a few weeks ago that I read - http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/10/17/leonard-cohen-makes-it-darker
