The Living Force

Joejoeba has inspired me with a thought-provoking statement in another thread, so I'll give it a shot.

life is emergent; where it can it will.
Life is emergent.
It supports wishful thinking,
It will plunder and kill - all this without blinking.
It will give us much praise,
It will lead us astray,
It will give us the world - then take it away.
It gives gold to the greedy,
It gives diamonds to swine,
It saps our essence - for evil to dine.
It sends us to war,
It gives us no hope,
It offers salvation - but that too through a Pope.
But life is emergent.
It doesn't end here,
The answer is known, if you have ears to hear.
For life to provide,
It is vital to ask,
The secret is - put hallowed cattle to task.
In its conception,
Our essence is hollow,
A fire must be built.. wanna follow?

Nice one Scio :) I really like that. I am now also inspired and have written one below :D

Life is diverse,
In its ceaseless emergence,
It views the universe,
From all angles,
Whether it be fangled,
Or simple in design,
The miracle is not always plain to see,
It is by design,
Not a straight line.

Multiple windows of awareness,
Pouring light into the heart of objective life,
Spawning creation in infinite forms,
System lockdowns,
Freedom,
The soul as the death of a dreamer,
To find reality surpasses magic,
For it can be known,
Causing love inspired tears,
In the fabric of illusion,
Through which the madness can be seen.

Breaking through the ceiling of limitation,
Like a growing flower pressing against the air,
With a thorny stem,
Something has made a decision,
Beyond the choice of life to live,
In a fairy tale,
Where people live on planets,
And overwhelming stars stream their energy,
While in our minds we can only glimpse,
At the magnitude of its splendour,
And fly into the night,
Or head first into the light.

im partial to haiku, so:

Life comes in battles
Between the light and the dark
Understand the choice

I think it's also applicable to the maxim: Know thyself.

I really like this imagery. What it made me think of is:
Human beings can be like beautiful flowers, ever-growing towards the light, but not totally blinded by it. Hence, we have thorns or defense mechanisms i.e. perspicacity and knowledge (and the WILL to use it).

Sigh...poetry is quite powerful. Thanks, guys :)
