Really cool! I wonder if it retains an electrical charge after the initial shock and, if so, for how long. It looks like it does from the video as it stays sparking for a while, but I'm wondering about the long term.

Thanks for sharing :)

I saw also the second video below, from a company that do them for selling and from what I saw (did not hear, though) they make a bigger hole with a large nail using a hammer, so cube/cylinder/form can be sold already discharged and safe. The discharging last seconds.

I was wondering while seeing the video, what would happend if the lighting goes free and touch the skin, the lighting just "bites" the worker, it seems it does not hurt that much.

I would like to have one, but is not going to be soon.

Thanks Casper, it was quite intersting!!

Small sparks through the air are low-current high voltage, and are over in less than a second. It is current that causes the dangerous effects. The worst I got from a spark was a pit in my fingernail - the spark is made of plasma which is extremely hot and will burn if the spark is sustained in the same place for very long.

In the article link, there is a second article that gives a fair amount of additional details on the process itself, the hyper link in the article is in the words "negatively charged cloud and the positively charged ground".

Indeed, thanks Casper!
