The Suspicious0bservers guy pointed this out in one of his latest videos.

The idea is that a vortex is created when two streams come at each other head on. Here's the image explaining it.

Thanks for sharing Archea. The article brought back memories from my college days. Spiral vortices are quite an interesting phenomenon but still not very well understood. I remember working on a paper analysing the influence of spiral geometry on the vorticity field and I was really struggling to understand it back then. :rolleyes:
