"Livres en liberté" - Books in the wild

This morning, I remembered something I've seen last year : I was walking along little marina and stopped a moment on a public bench. On the other side of the bench I noticed a pocket with a book inside and an other paper. Curious, I opened the pocket, the book was a roman, and the paper explained that :

An association was driving an operation called " Books in the wild". The purpose was to let somewhere a book (in a public place) so as to give the opportunity to someone else to read the book and then, in charge to this new person, after reading, to let again the book for someone else ( it could be anywhere). Like this, the book traveled, and people discovered a new book and share it, freely.

Apparently, this operation had an increasing success and was spreading out in all French country.

And I wonder if it couldn't be an inspiration source for spreading infos in a new way for Sott ? Of course, books in our case is maybe not the right solution as they have a cost, BUT I think that maybe it is very easy for anyone to print some goods articles for exemple, put them in a plastic poket for protect, and let that on any public bench with a Sott flyer. Something like that.

What do you think about ?

I think it depends. For when you leave an article/etc on a bench it stays there maybe 1-2days until it gets recycled by the garbage man. And since people around could consider it as stealing, most of them will not touch it. Better if someone could just put some sort of prints with the link to SOTT on light poles. And a motto - "This is a chance to find the truth". Print the link vertically and then by using scrissors to just cut in between the texts, people could just rip off a link, to have it for themselves. In this way at least 10-20 printed links fit only on a paper.

If it is clearly and visibly mentioned "Don't throw it", maybe the garbage man will think twice... and even if someone don't take it but, just for the time he is setting on the bench, he got something to read, as a kind of newspaper, it could be enough to question him and maybe drive to Sott website. or push him to make some research on the subject.

It is clear that we can't have 100% success, as just a flyer, as just a T-shirt but the interesting thing is that you give directly a part of information that a flyer can't ( because it's too small and flyers are everywhere, everyday, thousands of flyers, in the markets, on your car, etc. for publicity, at a point that it is lived like an agression and few of them are really read). Joining some good articles WITH flyers could be a good experience to try.
