The new book by Jon Ronson, "Lost at Sea" is a collection of essays examining the strange things people believe in. Ronson's last book, "The Psychopath Test" was a good read and discussed in this forum. This book is fun to read and covers a plethora of topics and groups that relate to this forum when it comes to filtering out disinformation and gaining knowledge. There are 22 essays including reports on attending an alien conference in Laughlin, Nevada with Robbie Williams; Going on a cruise liner to interview Sylvia Browne, the psychic; The Jesus Christians who want to donate their kidneys to strangers; Nicky Gumble and the Holy Trinity Brompton; and examining the credit nightmare among others. This was a fun read although pointing out the dangers of today's society and some strangeness developing on the big blue marble.
