Low blood sugar

Hi everyone!
I have a concern about blood sugar, and couldn't find much via the search tool. If a similar thread does exist please feel free to delete/close this one.

I recently had a blood and urine test done, it actually went out great, I'm in good health over all.. except that my blood sugar levels (of 60) are below the expected minimum (which is 70). I find it weird since there is diabetes in my family (mother and brother) and still haven't completely gone out of carbs: I sometimes indulge on some dark chocolate and use a stevia/sugar mix as a sweetener. I also eat some rice occasionally. I'm trying to take the diet with time and go step by step, but maybe this drop on my blood sugar may be a hint that I'm going too fast?

I perhaps shouldn't be so concerned because I'm feeling a lot better than before, but can't help finding this sugar drop quite unusual.

All advice is, as always, welcome ;)

Hopefully others can offer you some input here, but are you saying that your levels used to be 70, but have dropped down to 60? How long have you been testing for this? It's good to know you are "feeling a lot better than before." :)

As you may know yourself it sounds like blood-sugar swings. And can be caused due to carbohydrate eating and that the body produces too much insulin at a time and so the BG can drop. Also when switching to a very low carb diet and protein restriction the BG can drop, but actually your body should be able to correct it.

Do you take supplements (new ones) and if, which ones do you take? Do you get symptoms of a hypoglycemia or just measured the BG and you saw that it is lower than it should? Your diet is in progression you mean, and you adjust it at the moment step by step? And last but not least ;), do eat something to get the BG on top again and does it help?

Well, here is topic about diabetes.

Thanks for the replies :)
I actually feel great, considering the fact that I'm pregnant have a lot of energy. I'm not having any supplements because have no idea if a pregnant woman is allowed to have 'em. I even stopped taking melatonin and magnesium, just in case.
Then if I got it correctly, this sugar drop might mean that my body's fighting with insulin because I used it to low carbs but now I've actually increased the sugar levels due to cravings, so I need to lower carbs and sugars again.
It's been a couple of years since I had my previous bood test, was eating gluten and lots of milk, so it's hard to tell. Maybe I should get one of those thumb thingies for measuring it at home?

toxicity of the clothes

hello

this morning I read this article in the Monde.

the title is :Greenpeace forces the fashion industry to check the non-toxicity of her clothes.

Is it dangerous for the health to wear a Lacoste shirt or a T-shirt Abercrombie&Fitch,a shirt Uniqlo or cloths Adidas, Converse(Nike), Calvin Klein or H&M? that's the

iconoclast question that raises the Act II from the compaign of detoxification thrown by Greenpeace. Greenpean who wishes to clean up the supplying chain of the fashion industry.

They have to begin with the rivers in China which are the main overflows of the pollutants emitted by the subcontractors of world marks of the garment.

The report "Dirty Landry" published on August 23th declared that the clothes of forteen marks world known contain traces of chemical substances which can can cause

hormonal perturbations.

78 producs made in 13 countries were tested , two third contain Ethoxylate of nonylphenol (NPE).The most toxic was: Converse made in the Phillippines (27000mg/kg)

The Ethoxylate of nonyphenol is often used als detergent and in the production of natural and synthetic textiles.

Once the clothes are washed, the ethoxylate of nonylphenol dissolves in the water and can be found in the rivers and finally in the food chain.

An another toxic pollutant is PFC found in Youngor Textiles.

In Europe the level of NPE admitted is 1000mg/kg .

After some weeks of negociations between Greenpeace and the world marks, the french Puma, and the american Nike made a commitment: they eliminate the dangerous

chimical products for the environnement, from their productions.

Not only Greenpeace was worried, ;) also the mobilization came from the internet users and the chinese press (1400 articles were published on the subject)

to the point that the ministry of environnement (in China) had to declare that it was indeed a pollutant emission even if no laws sanctioned it.

So after the "conversion" of Puma and Nike to the cause of Greenpeace a lot of discussions raised and as always the results of the tests were considered as contestable .

But the things are evolving, Adidas asserted that she had discussions with other world groups to "lower" the rate of toxic matter in the textile

Now Wait and see ;) for more details le monde 27 août 2011 :)

I am in "deep learning" myself right now, currently reading Deep Nutrition, and I am not sure of anything at the moment. But this book warns that pregnancy can cause severe nutritional deficiencies for you, the mother, due to priorities established by evolution. If it is true, it may help explain many aftereffects of pregnancy, effects that might not even occur if we were still eating the foods that we evolved to eat, which very few of us are (certainly not me).

I have had low blood sugar all my life, and I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia at 20 years old after taking what was I think (it was 40 years ago) a 4-hour glucose tolerance test. The one thing I can tell you from my experience is that when I reduced my carb intake down to about 72 grams/day, two or three months ago, my blood sugar stabilized within days and I stopped gaining weight as well.

This has never happened before, and that was when I began to strongly suspect that most of what I had been taught about nutrition was a bunch of hooey. And that all those years of blood sugar and weight gain problems were simply for want of one basic piece of knowledge.

You could reduce your carbs down to that level, but the danger might be in what other nutrients you might eliminate that you were getting from the higher-carb foods, and in trying to convert over to fat burning while your body is preoccupied with more pressing matters.

So I don't know what to suggest except that you might want to leave your carb intake where it is and concentrate on adding things like organic organ meats to your diet to maintain your nutrient levels (conventional organ meats could be very toxic), and to try to ensure that your carbs are coming from quality, unprocessed foods. And no vegetable oil!

Thanks Megan, I'm confused too, and maybe I should take it easy until I give birth. I'll ask my doctor anyway though I don't trust much in traditional medicine.

Nonetheless asking your doctor is not a bad idea. As Megan mentioned, there is achance getting diabetes due to pregnancy, but it is possible that you don't have to stick with it and that it goes away again. And also be careful with Éiriú Eolas and beatha and holding breath during pipebreathing.

And especially during pregnancy take care about changing your diet and try to read the books and collect information before you do any changes.

Take care! :flowers:

Hello, fille des bois, I'm not sure if your article is fitting in this topic here, maybe you did place the article wrongly?

I actually stopped practicing EE due to a lot of factors like moving in, the recent loss of my mother, and having a lot of work. Now that I think of, I may be needing it more than ever due to all those stressing factors I just mentioned, added to the fact that had to quit smoking!

Thanks guys for your care and concern :flowers:
