If interested, brought home an ELF Magnetic Field Meter to do some testing and here are some of the preliminary results.

This device tests Tesala & milli Gauss and operating between 30hz to 2000 hz. sampling every .5 sec.

These samples were in mG

1) House; wood frame/steel roof – general walking around @ .89 mean milli Gauss

Note: appliances/electronics sampled from < 1 ft

2) Key Board @ 2.46 mG

3) Laptop @ 2.65 – 3.70 mG (surprised at this)

4) Screen @ 1.45 – 6.55 mG

5) Router @ up to 58.3 mG :evil:

6) Speakers @ 9 – 13.5 mG

7) Oven; from the top range.
• Not on - (static) @ 1.15 mG
• With Oven @ 350 = 8.86 mG
• With one element on = 28.4 mG, two = 87.7 mG, three = 130.0 + mG, & four > 192.0 mG :shock:

8) Coffee machine @ 10.34 mG

9) TV @ 2.5 mG and close up @ 16.2 mG (surprised this was as low as it was).

10) My Cat @ .9 (figures). :rolleyes:

11) Electrical Panel (220) @ 70.0 – 117.0 mG

Back to the computer;

If measured from seated operating position - closer to Router (to the side of computer) up to 18.5 mG and opposite router @ 2.5 mG

That’s it for now. :)

Parallax,

I'm just curious, can you try testing different types of light bulbs? Give us the scoop on how different the CFC bulbs are from the incandescent bulbs -- or any other types of lighting for that matter.

Thanks for this list!

Yup, can do that; Regular 60w light bulb @ 1.27 mG - the CFC (had one in a side room - will ditch it) = 23.9 at the high.

Amendment note:

Cell Phones

My issued company phone is still just a regular one but their are designs to change that to a Black Berry. Tested both tonight (the Mrs has one of those BB's).

Basic Motorola cell phone @ standby = between .5 - .9 mG. When connecting = between 12.5 - 59.0 being the highest - the values were changing rabidly 4-5 a second.

Blackberry or one would think any G3 cell phone @ standby roughly the same - .7 - .95 mG. When connecting = between (hold on) 22.0 - 256.00 mG. Again, this was changing at rapid speed and double checked the readings, sampled 2 more time with the same outcomes.

Edit - Qualifying statement;

The old Motorola phone has something bought from a health food store called a ‘Winalite’ patch that goes over the ear part of the phone speaker. This is about 1 inch x ½ inch with a small oval cut-out in the middle; stuck on so can't remove. Had no idea of its effectiveness when it was purchased (wishful thinking), so will purchase one for the 3G phone and re sample to mark any changes.

In case of cell phones, wifi, LAN etc, the damaging part for the cells of the organism
is less the field strength but the FREQUENCY of the EM radiation.
This point is ALWAYS missed in public discussions and the beaurocracy refers to the
meaningless "safe standards" which only measure field strength.

Yeah, that's a key point, I think. A weak field at say 1.9GHz could be a lot worse for you than a strong field at 60Hz.
