Man attacks London tube travelers with machete - Witness alleges he was screaming 'this is for Syria'. According to Sky news and witnesses he screamed "that it is for Syria", since 2 days ago GB flew it first attacks on Syria. On the other side, Police couldn't confirm that the attacker said it, also on video no such words are said. I find it suspicious and would even go that far, that he never said such words. As stated in the comment: "It's difficult to ascertain whether or not the man really did scream 'this is for Syria' while carrying out this gruesome attack. But one thing is clear, and that's that this diabolical insanity is spreading like wildfire." Maybe it was just another person that was gone off according to the C's to further frighten society. Another downside is, that some commentators on twitter demanded guns for cops so that they can shoot immediately.

After the arrest, an eyewitness behind the camera says:
"You're not a Muslim bro!"

If we consider that this may be another 'agent' being set off by a phone call, I wonder why they chose to do it immediately after beginning the Syrian bombing campaign. An event like this before it would have gained more support for dropping bombs in Syria. They obviously didn't need it to get through parliament, but it would have helped with public support. Instead, something like this happening so soon after only makes the government look worse.

And if it is a genuine 'lone nut' type of attack, why spin it in the media as a Muslim Terror™ event, given the reasoning above?

Don't follow why you think it makes the government look worse. Some of the public reaction of fear and confusion can act as galvanizing the narrative and support for Gov action. Public suport will be needed because of the 'long and protacted' nature announcements of the campaign expected to be long term. The basic message being we're bombing terrorists, here's another one so we are right in bombing some more? Also as Gawan points out such acts can then lead to giving Police more powers.

It could, and probably will, go that way. But also this gives the lefties, 'Corbynites' etc. perfect rhetoric to use to say 'look what happens when you interfere in other countries and make enemies', OSIT.
