Martial law in southeastern PA

Hi again, This may be something to cover in your US news or Big Brother section...

http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/local&id=7507954

I also saw a blurb about another gas well or pipeline accident in central PA, but I couldn't find a link..the blurb in my Sunday news was VERY sketchy and ambiguous
and only said " two workers hurt in 'industrial accident' at a gas line"...

and one other thing while I'm here...

First, Many Thank You's for all the excellent work you folks do at SOTT. ..any time I find an open minded person who understands
how ponerized the mainstream media is, I tell them about you guys. Keep up the good work!

..and speaking of "turning people on" to your site, and "big brother"..I told a good friend who works at a hydro-electric plant about SOTT. Note; she said that they had full internet access...and as an operator uses the web to monitor upstream water levels and flow...and during the long boring hours when things are running right, their allowed to surf news sites... but SOTT is blocked..(imagine that!) Apparently the higher-ups at the power company don't consider you to be "real news", although it may be that anything that is connected to an open forum is blocked...I'll have to get more details

anyway...thanks again

ADMIN NOTE: corrected spelling in subject field from "marshall" to "martial."

Re: marshall law in southeastern PA

Hmm...if this is true that is quite distressing. I have emailed a colleague who operates an arts performance space in the heart of downtown Chester. I just performed there two weeks ago. Chester is a strange place- didn't seem so scary (try certain parts of Camden or Philadelphia on for size) as abandoned. Most of the buildings in downtown Chester are totally boarded up. But the people on the street actually seemed very nice, not ones who were sketchy or harassing me. Usually when I am walking through a not good area I get comments or people walking up to me/following me no matter what I am wearing (I am a reasonably fit female in her 20s); all of the times I have been to Chester I got none of this, at most it was just a friendly "Hi". This is including the night I gave a recital there in fancier dress. My colleague (and his girlfriend) who have lived in downtown Chester for several years now do not mention anything about excessive violence or crime, he does say that all the rumors about Chester being so bad are exaggerated. It is his belief that the local college, Widener University, promotes these rumors due to a piece of property that the university wants, that is owned by the city of Chester, and will not sell. Otherwise, it just seems like a totally bombed-out town.

I do know that Chester has been a financial wreck for a while, the income levels are super low. I wouldn't doubt that there are drug and violence problems but my intuition
tells me it is possible there is more going on here- maybe to set a local precedent for this in an area no one cares about? Or to grab some land? Property values here are already very low so I don't know what the point of this would be.

It is terrible that these individuals have been killed, I hope that this violence stops soon as possible.

And ps- it's Martial law ;)

Re: marshall law in southeastern PA

Just heard from my colleague: "As for this curfew, I know nothing of it! I have heard much from other people from outside Chester. Nothing from within...."

FWIW. He lives right in the downtown, figured he'd know as much as anyone- also since he operates this performing arts center that has gatherings of people outside which apparently aren't cool now at night. They had a big concert yesterday, in fact, with no problem. Hmmm.

Re: marshall law in southeastern PA

Hello, thanks for the correction D...if it wasn't for spell -check my lack of proper education would be even more obvious than it already is. :)

its funny that you use the word abandoned...that was my exact impression of Chester, about 10-15 years ago. I drove truck for an insulation co. and delivered to Marcus Hook refinery weekly, and was told by certain types of co-workers how "bad" that area was...but I thought it just looked abandoned.

I also had the experience of going to some of those places you mentioned, and other "not so nice" places in NYC, northern NJ etc.. and you're correct it doesn't compare...(at that point in time, anyway)

What I wanted to mention was, that I first became aware of the story Saturday night when surfing the crap box and stopped on "Action News Ch 6". Their treatment of the story was obviously hyped-up.

They used the word "Marital law" (...which I thought means that a military unit is brought in as an auxiliary police force?..) and went on to explain the curfew, the recent murders and street violence, and extra hours for local police, and also extra state police support... and all the while flashing stock images of rows of state police cars, and stern faced troopers, and crime scenes....

..it looks to me like the standard FOX style of reporting, on an ABC affiliate no less!....I guess I shouldn't be surprised, its just that I rarely watch ANY local news cause its all just fluff, sports and weather, none of which I have any interest in.

My local newspaper in Lancaster, PA just had a very small blurb, and called it a curfew...but other than some very local "issues", they rarely run anything that might upset the sleeping sheep here in Amish paradise.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, being a dedicated reader of SOTT for a year now, that the local PTB's would run a complete BS story in an attempt to scare people off the streets, and/or scare local thugs into line( good luck on that one!)....and your point about the real estate thing, is even more likely to be the case...you know, follow the money.

It wouldn't surprise me at all, if in the next year or so you see old shabby row houses being razed, and a "community revitalization" happening in that area....after all you wouldn't want all those revenue enhancing soccer fans to be afraid to come to the new stadium.....better move them poor folks outta sight... right?

It wouldn't surprise me if in the next year or so there are food riots and revolutions. If you are paying attention to what is going on right now, you will see that it's not going to be very long before there is simply not enough food for the MAJORITY of the planet's population. We've got a really rough few years ahead of us. Rougher than most people can imagine from where they are sitting right now.

Laura is so right! I am just sorta going with life but feeling in the background this huge metaphorical gray cloud that is coming among us. If the info is right we have left a couple of relatively calm weeks ahead of us before everything goes on. I have tried to share these kind of thoughts with my wife but she thinks that I am a "chicken little", an alarmist. And I really don´t want to scare her (she is pregnant) but I am just watching the signs unfold before us. And it does not look good at al brother!
Picture this: enviromental disaster going rampage, economic system out of the picture (i.e. no money to buy stuff), and as laura says riots and revolutions, etc. etc.

Yes, I agree that some sort of situation could be brewing with the opening of the new soccer stadium (especially in the middle of world cup play, people around here seem more interested in soccer than usual), more people will be in the area. Perhaps this had happened to no avail several years before with the opening of the racetrack and casino (2006).

Something only vaguely related which has been bothering me, located in Philadelphia itself, is the new addition to the Pennsylvania Convention Center, located right down the street from me, and just a block or two from city hall (and a masonic temple, if you want to go there ) This thing is huge and takes up an additional block (3 city blocks total). I can't imagine what on earth they need an addition for, it seems as though the the existing facilities are not used to capacity. So I've taken to calling it the PA Detention Center. I suppose time will tell if I'm right... :/

Another thing of note from a friend of an old neighbor is the fact that there apparently are a slew of tunnels crisscrossing themselves underneath the city. This gentleman said he followed one of them out into the suburbs, and that it seemed to go much further. I did not get a chance to investigate them myself before I moved out of that neighborhood where he lived, I don't know if this is true or not, but it seemed from his story that he was not making it up, he was genuinely befuddled by what he found. FWIW.

Hello again, Thank you all for all the insightful responses..so much to think about.

I especially want to thank you Laura, for so kindly, and adeptly, helping me get my head out of my ass..( did you hear a popping sound?). ..I usually try to keep focused on the big picture, but as you can see here in this line of thought (and many others I waste time mentating on), that its really easy to focus on, and get absorbed in small or local things, and to contemplate from a past tense, status quo kind of reasoning.....you know, this is how its been going, and this ( insert idea) is where its likely to end up..etc. Inductive reasoning I think its called or maybe its just inference?..(its been a long time since my philosophy reading binge)...anyway your point is well taken..i.e., there is MUCH bigger things to think about currently, although I know, every dot counts.

I guess I should reintroduce myself..( Hi, I'm Dave :)).. since I failed so miserably the first time I tried...I ended up deleting my posts and saying the heck with it all. I'm NOT a good writer, was new to the internet, and a slow typist to boot. As a young person I was very gullible and easily led astray by people who lied, and in turn learned the hard way to not reveal my true self to people I don't know or haven't at least met in person a time or two. I now ( after a couple of severe "shocks" in my 30's) seem to be blessed with a kind of intuition that tells me who I can trust, but it only seems to work in person. I was also very excited about finding a group of people who weren't afraid to THINK deep and large.

It seemed like what I did write was dissected, and taken out of context in ways that construed a meaning that wasn't what I was trying to say...and also, I must admit, I was trying to "say all the right things" which you guys saw right thru..( I do have much respect for folks with a good BS detectors..except when thier focused on me! :scared:)....I now am more aware of how hard it is for one to really intuit anything about someone by what they write in this "copy and paste" world, and I guess you have to scratch'em a little to see what happens.

BTW....I have read ISOTM two times, and Beelzebub;s tales twice also....what an amazing book!!! I also just finished Alfred DeGraiza's "Chaos and Creation"...another mind blower that makes so much sense, it's no wonder it not accepted by mainstream scientists.

It also seemed like something was working against me at that time. The first "intro" I wrote was long and detailed (books I read, some strange spiritual type experiences and major "shocks" etc..), and took hours to compose..and as I was re-reading and spell-checking it, there was a two second power interruption...and POOF, it was gone!...it just killed me, I was so frustrated and down-hearted I cried.

Despite the emotions and frustration, I "got back on the horse" and wrote another intro...which was lame and hurried and condensed, but I posted it anyway, driven by a desire to be "in".....and well, that's the one that got picked apart....and upon reflection, rightly so....I also tried to respond to the responses, and lost two of those also.

...anyway, I guess I should stop babbling on and maybe continue this in the "newbies" section when I get the time...though for some unknown reason I don't like that word as a description of myself ..probably a latent program or buffer of some sort.( I KNOW I'm not free of all those yet) I'm only 48, but I sometimes feel so old and tired I just want to go back to sleep...or crawl up on some fine beach, out of this ocean of sadness, which you spoke of ...and yes I received my copy of the EE program yesterday...THANK YOU very very much, I'm not sure why, but having you sitting there in front of me, talking to me, gave me a.. familiar feeling..THANK YOU again ...I got to go...my eye seals are leaking.....
Kind Regards, Dave/ BHN
