Another mass movement of frogs this time in Florida. If this were a normal annual event why all the interest? Are the frogs sensing something (oil) in the air and water as a result of the gulf oil leak?

Edit -

Just noticed that this happened around the same time as oil was reported raining down in Florida (as posted on Sott)

Apopka frog outbreak: 'There were tons of them'

'Mass metamorphosis' may be to blame for huge frog migration, which left behind scores of stinky, crushed carcasses

Interesting, there are couple of irregular frog mass movement recorded in North America: (Banta, 1914; Wright and Wright, 1949; Howard, 1980; Seale, 1982b). Adults migrate from terrestrial overwintering sites to seasonal and semipermanent breeding wetlands. Timing of breeding season roughly follows latitudinal or elevational gradients. Examples (by state) of reported months in which breeding may occur include Alabama: January–February (Davis and Folkerts, 1979); Alaska: May–June (Herreid and Kinney, 1966, 1967); Arkansas: January–February (Trauth et al., 1989b, 1995a); Colorado and Wyoming: May (Corn and Livo, 1989); Georgia: February (Camp et al., 1990); Illinois (north): March–April (Pope, 1944); Illinois (south): February–March (Redmer, 2002); Maine: March–April (Hunter et al., 1999); Maryland: February (Berven, 1982a,b); Minnesota: March–April (Oldfield and Moriarty, 1994); Missouri: February (Guttman et al., 1991); New York: April (Wright, 1914; Wright and Wright, 1949); North Carolina: February–March (Hopey and Petranka, 1994); Pennsylvania: March–April (Seale, 1982b; Shaffer, 1991); Virginia: February (Berven, 1982a,b); Tennessee: February (Meeks and Nagel, 1973); Wisconsin: April–May (Mossman et al., 1998; Vogt, 1981), why this happened is still a mystery. The mass movement of the frogs connected to the China earthquake is amazing and puzzling, but frogs wouldn't be only animals who have ability to feel upcoming earthquakes or and tsunamis; elephants, dolphins, worms, birds, dogs are natural talents in this case.

I sincerely hope that recent frog mass movement in Greece was connected more to Feeding-Breeding anomaly and not as bad omen to possible earthquake in Europe, after all these possible catastrophes; ecological in gulf of Mexico, volcanoes eruptions on Island and aeronautical transportation embargo, main shakes of economy in world of Euro zone, last thing what we need is another or stronger China like or Haiti like earthquake in some even more overpopulated part of the world.
