Isn't this clever? The Boston public transit system will now alert you electronically if there is a delay or other issue on your transportation route. Introduced as a convenient service, of course. Just visit the MBTA web site, tell them who you are, give your email address, inform them of what trains and buses you take on what days at what times, and they'll inform you of any hitch. Fantastic!

The city is already working on a new method of monitoring cars with transponders and readers everywhere so you can pay road taxes according to how much you drive -- you wouldn't want to overpay, now would you? Now they want to know where you are all the time even if you don't have a car.

Yes, very clever indeed. The other day I watched a program on BBC called something like the prying game. DARPA is working on a computer program that will recognize your height, your gait profile (how you walk) in addition to your face profile that will work with the security cameras all over. They also plan to record voices near the cameras. By the way in UK there are 4 million CCTV cameras, the highest in the world, one camera for 15 persons.
