Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Mars, Jupiter Alignment - another earthquake?

Just read this on Sott and the first thing it spelt was Christmas tsunami, becuase Dec 2004-Jan 2005 was when it happened. Things is our environment is so much more unstable now compared to a decade ago...perhaps we should be extra vigilant over the next few weeks?

Yes, maybe something to keep an eye on. As you say the last time this occurred, about 10 days into it the Banda Aceh tsunami happened. The alignment lasts for about a month. So this time we're looking at Jan 20th-Feb 20th. We shall see!

The last time that all five visible planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) appeared in the same sky together was over 10 years ago, from December 15, 2004, to January 15, 2005. The next presentation will again happen for a period of about one month, starting soon!

All five planets should be visible simultaneously before dawn beginning around January 20, 2016. And they’ll remain visible before dawn from about January 20 to February 20, 2016.

Well, it's an apparent alignment along a line as seen from earth. But it's not a true sun-centered conjunction (that could 'ground' the sun and setting electricity in motion) nor even a true earth-centered conjunction.

Attached two screenshots (for 2 days from now) from NASA's Solar System Simulator, as well as from Stellarium software, with my annotations. The NASA screenshot shows that there is not much alignment when seen from 'above'.

However, that doesn't mean that it cannot have some astrological or symbolical significance.

Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami on December 26 2004 (did you mean this one, rymw?)

Again no obvious conjunction as seen from 'above', but interestingly, as seen from earth, and as right now, there was a clear astrological conjunction of Venus, Mercury (both closely aligned), Mars and Jupiter!

Also as right now too, Jupiter and Saturn then spanned a square, pretty close to 90° !

The next largest modern tsunami, according to Wikipedias List of Tsunamis, was the March 11, 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami with magnitude 9.0.

Interestingly, the largest players in our solar system, Jupiter and Saturn, were pretty close in earth-centered opposition. In almost perfect sun-centered opposition. Maybe it's just these biggest players that really 'do' something? Symbolically/Energetically/other?

The take home message from that article, at least for me, was that Mercury was the one which plays very important role in this business - acting like a switch for Solar capacitor when aligning in conjunction with big ones (passing between Jupiter/Saturn and Sol) in particular configuration.

Also, Mercury didn't "trigger" Jupiter at that time, while around March 11 it had "just" passed between the Sun and Jupiter and aligned itself almost in straight line Jupiter-Mercury-Earth-Saturn.

I am curious to see how this plays out from the EU theory standpoint. Its going to be about a month of 5 planets lining up. How will it affect charge/discharge in the planetary system. Curious to see how volcanic/earthquake events take place along with weird weather patterns playing out. Are things gonna ramp up during this, or will it be a channeling of energy for a month that then gets unleashed as the planets fall out of alignment? It has already been a chaotic start to the year.

That is what I posted in the article itself. Didn't even think about the last part of the title when it mentioned the lineup happening during the Indian ocean earthquake and tsunami. If that happened at the start of it then we may be in for an interesting start to the alignment.
